Craftsman 82345 Multimeter broke!
My daily carry just stopped working only me. Started last week with the voltage flickering. Found one lead was broken and I ordered new ones. New leads didn't change anything, it displays “-1” on all settings but on continuity will give the tone when touching. Checked battery and found the fuse blown. Replaced fuse but same results. Cleaned the dial and led display and its parts. Board looks nice and clean no burned or broken components. Nothing traumatic happened to this multimeter I put it aside when I found the lead broken and didn't touch it until I got the neAnyone have any ideas what's...3 Photos

Re: Vizio VM60P no HDMI
Is there any way to test this or should I try a main board swap? I was hoping for something easy to fix, main boards are hard to find for this model

Re: Vizio VM60P no HDMI
update: so I started to play with the inputs turning TV off and on, seems HDMI #1 port works if I leave the inputs on ( camera or Fios STB on) and cycle the TV. But port#1 shows on all four HDMI inputs. I did plug an HDMI into #4 and same mirroring to other ports but I cant duplicate it again.Last edited by trex66; 04-08-2018, 10:45 AM.

Re: Vizio VM60P no HDMI
Haven't tested everything but using component inputs now without a problem. This was a TV that was gifted to us after a few months the HDMI stopped working, might have worked again at some point but now all four ports produce a no signal message on the TV. I can test the other ports if you think it would offer some insight

Vizio VM60P no HDMI
everything works fine just all four HDMI ports get 'no signal' tried different cables known working, same results, really thought I would come here and find an answer right away but surprised there was no post on this yet, Any ideas?

Re: Viewsonic n3260w No Power, no standby
Thanks for all the posts and pics. I was able to fix a dead power supply and now have a working TV again...

Re: Sceptre X22WG-1080p monitor not staying backlit, Please Help!
Yes, I wanted do that today, I have to find a good magnifier and see where the trace goes. It's been a while but I must have checked it when I re-soldered it... I will post when I am able to test it.
OK, checked the pin and it has continuity to, looks like J1 next to it. Phisicaly it looks good but I'm not sure if I could have damaged it when I unsoldered it and then soldered it back down - I know some components are more sensitive to heat than others.
I don't know what else to look for on...Last edited by trex66; 01-06-2012, 05:35 PM.

Re: Sceptre X22WG-1080p monitor not staying backlit, Please Help!
For anyone trying to help me, the pin I'm worried about is the #16 pin from the BIT3193 it is the MODSEL output "to set the output polarity of the low frequency PWM controller" does anyone think this could be my problem?

Re: Sceptre X22WG-1080p monitor not staying backlit, Please Help!
OK, I'm back with a new problem. My sceptre originally was a 2 seconds to black and finally found I had a bad ccfl - Anyway, I put it all back together and fired it up and... worked except the colors on the screen were all washed out. There is no color saturation, looks like the brightness was pushed up 200% and the type on the screen is out of focus and hard to read. Hard to take a picture showing it because it looks like I was using a flash. I was sick of this monitor and put it in the basement. I decided to fix...Last edited by trex66; 01-06-2012, 01:56 PM.

Re: Imac Isight G5 PSU repair
If the Imac just blinks when you try to start up it's not the PSU, it's the computer. Re-seat the memory should give you post. Also, it must have some RAM to start up, there is no internal RAM like Apple used to include. For intel Imacs running os 10.5.x you need 1Gb, if it is 10.6.x you need 2Gb.
Looks like Fleater found the answer, Macs are very pickey about the memory they use. I have bought new RAM that didn't work in an Imac but would in other computers.
The PSU's from the isight on are pretty stable, not like...Last edited by trex66; 12-20-2011, 08:58 AM.

Re: TEC power supply, no current
Replaced all caps, it ran fine for 15 min then fans started to surge and display blinked as did both red and green LEDs on PCB.
I took a closer look at PCB for dry solder joints, everything looks good, double checked cap V and uf... tried it again and this time same surging then after a while blinking slowed down and got steady fans and LEDs - But voltage is only 10.7v not 12-13v.
Kaboom, where's that feedback resistor and how do I change the voltage to 14? I think the TEC units are for 15v
There are two LEDs...Last edited by trex66; 12-08-2011, 10:34 PM.

replaced the two rectifiers and schottky - still no current... waiting on small caps

Re: TEC power supply, no current
Thanks for the help, I ordered new schottky and rectifiers but now I am also going to replace all the small caps so I don't have to question their working or not. Looks like a lot of junk component used on here

TEC power supply, no current
Hello everyone, I have a power supply from a wine cooler that went bad.
The history with this is when it first stopped working I took a look and replaced a blown cap 'B' in the picture. It worked for some time then stopped again, I replaced 'B' again but still not working. Then I found there was very low current(amps). Fans and controller will work if the TEC is off and NTCI is unplugged. It will measure 12.5v but it will fall to 0 current when I try to measure volts. Anyway, bought a new TEC and replaced the caps at 'A' with same results. The original Caps at 'A' were 200v,120uf...

Re: I mac G5 PSU, ALS - odd voltages...
Thanks toasty, since the pics I posted, I did clean it up and re-flowed the pads.
After changing the small caps and cleaning and re-flowing and replacing the 1P - the voltages weren't continually climbing like before so even though the voltage leaking issue wasn't resolved I thought it just might be stable. I was wrong, the Imac still shuts down whenever it wants to. So whatever the problem is that will make it shut off is still there.
Note, it doesn't matter if the Imac is under load or sleeping, it will just shut...Last edited by trex66; 05-03-2011, 09:41 AM.

Re: I mac G5 PSU, ALS - odd voltages...
I think I found the problem. C45 has badly burned pads, I think it's shorted into the 3.3V trace. And the two coils on the 3.3V line are increasing the voltage to 47V.
If this is where the 47V is coming from then do I need to fix it or will it function OK?...

Re: I mac G5 PSU, ALS - odd voltages...
I pulled and tested C59 and D21 and they are oK.
I been tracing the 24V and the 3.3V circuits for hours and I just can't see any component they share. They don't even come that close to each other. I'm still trying to figure out how the 24/5V circuit could produce 47V?

Re: I mac G5 PSU, ALS - odd voltages...
Toast, you never said it couldn't be measured in circuit. I powered up the PSU and removed D10 and it tests shorted - both ways. This is exactly how it tested before, tomorrow it will probably test open.
So is this a bad diode, should I replace it and if so where do I get one? Or is this acting normal and I should be looking somewhere else for the problem? If this is bad, how could it leak voltage to the 3.3V pins?Last edited by trex66; 02-07-2011, 11:53 PM.

Re: I mac G5 PSU, ALS - odd voltages...
I didn't take it back out to test it again, it tested OL in and out of circuit before power and 0.00 in circuit after power - I don't know why it's testing open and shorted. But I'm getting the 5/24V so I thought I should look somewhere else for the problem.
I know, but that's how it labeled on my board, pic below
I mean the other points on the board where the wires for power go to the connector (24V, 5V, 5Vsb, ON/Off, PG).
