What is the best soldering flux to buy? I.E. Cost/uses/no clean up/......I want to try some ic replacement. Just got a digital microscope from Shop Jimmy and downloaded a bunch of videos on the "solder drag" method and want to practice.

you dont need anything special,
all the talk about what is best relates to bga work where your trying to get it under a chip and then cook it with air. -

Original Amtech 559 v2 is imho the best,not only for bga rework but also for normal daily soldering of smd chips.Comment

Hi everyone,
I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.
Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times... -

Does anyone have a INSKAM 7 inch LCD digital microscope
I have a weird issue on the one I have where the USB port does not output enough power because when I connect a USB light or the ring light the light output is always really dim
The ring light when connected to the microscope USB port is at the lowest brightness and turning the brightness knob makes no difference
I have tried different cables and different USB power adapters
I have confirmed there is nothing wrong with the ring light and the other USB light by plugging them into another... -
Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
1. Soldering iron works great
2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude... -
