    Measure the voltage in the laptop between 4 and 8 pins, and then you will know what voltage the spi flash is designed for.

          Ive been flashing recommended dump files on the chip with 3.3V and still get the flashing cap lock is it possible this programmer isn't detecting the correct chip as i cant see the number on the chip as its worn away to put it in manualy

            First you need to look at what the protection (status register) is (remember, it may be useful in the future), remove the protection (status register), then erase and write dump...

                I don't have such a “programmer”, and in my opinion it cannot work with status registers.

                              lotas is right about the clips. If you work with the BIOS often or not, better have the adapters. I bought the adapters cost less than $10 each and some are selling less than $5. The pins do not have enough space to use alligator clips.

                                  Yes i binned the alligator clips and got adapters and a T48 programmer great bit of kit ive programmed a W25Q64FVSSIG bios chip not fitted it yet but fingers crossed

                                      Dont have Lunix im on windows buddy but thanks anyway good to know are there any special settings i use for the T48 programmer to copy & wright a bios file or will default settings be ok
