I see a lot of favorable comments about the 1.6mm chisel tip.

Wow that soldering station looks exactly like mine! Except mine is a Lukey .

Mine came with a pencil tip. I can tell you right now that a 1.6mm chisel tip is heaps heaps better than a pencil tip for general electronics work. I guess pencil tips have their uses, not for soldering capacitors or MOSFET's which is the common application on motherboards.

I have tried a number of tips and at the end of the day, I like the standard tip that comes with the iron. It seems to provide the best all round performance.

The narrow tips are better for clearing holes BUT the solder rides up the body leaving the tip dry which is not good and positively bad for soldering components.

With the standard tip it is good enough for soldering components and just narrow enough to probe stubborn PCB vias for removing solder with a dental pick.

Hakko 950 SMT hot tweezers but no base or stand
              by redwire
I got gifted a Hakko 950 SMT hot tweezers but no base or stand.
              Any suggestions for building one?

"The 950 is compatible with the Hakko 936, 937, 939, 703, 926, 927 and 928 soldering stations." Apparently it has two heaters in parallel "24V 50W", one RTD temperature sensor 43-58Ω at room temp. 5-pin DIN.
I don't have any of those, have a 470-2 (no RTD in) and a FX-888A.

Tips on how to remove a very stuck memory chip on a GPU?
              by woody-009
              Hi Everyone

I'm after some tips on how to remove a VERY stuck memory chip on an RTX2070. I am a beginner with this size chip so I bought an old non working GTX960 and I can remove and refit the memory chips to that with ease.
So far I have cranked my hot air station to as high as it will go (It says 450C but I have no way to confirm that but its hot... its a cheap ebay unit. And I have a large square nozzle and have tried smaller nozzles.) I cant get the solder balls under the chip to melt. It has taken some flux in under it but still wont move. I have chipped one of the...

              Tips for reduce shaking ?
              by corrize
Hello, I have a little problem. When I use hot air, I'm shaking a little with tweezers, and I'm scared to push a little qfn for check if it floating. So sometime, I prefer to not try and « hope » the solder is done.

I use the blue tweezers mechanic AAC-14 and a I put just my fist on the table.

Do you have tips to reduce shaking pls ? Maybe shorter tweezers, or something for wedge the fist or arm ?

(I add : no coffee, no alcohol and I don't smoke).

Need help with troubleshooting tips\ schematics -LG monitor that goes off quickly
              by litec systems
              Hi all
Does someone has the test points \ schematics for lg eax65543115 ( 22" version, lg led monitor)
Or any ideas how to troubleshoot it?
The screen turns on for like 10 seconds, then goes off ( kinda protection triggered, as it goes off like you've been pressing the power button)
, but the cpu gets hot quickly within those 10 seconds , AND STAYS HOT EVEN WHEN IT'S OFF
I'm suspecting it gets over voltage \ current and triggers some OV \ OC PROTECTION but hopefully it's not too late ( that the chip is broken)

NOTE that it's a trashpicked monitor...
