Someone help me source a soldering station! UK

    Hi all,

Apologies for the thread. I assume it's been covered hundreds of times, but the search has only showed US results. I've been googling it but I'm not too sure what to look for.

The soldering iron I have is terrible, it's a £20 machine mart jobby and doesn't burn solder, let alone let me do board level work.

I've been working on laptops for a few years but I've just started working at an electronics repair company where I'm being taught to do far more advanced repairs, and as a result, I need a decent soldering station.

I won't be using it a huge amount, only a few times a week, and it will mostly be DC jacks I'll be replacing. I'm after a station with variable temps, and easily available spare parts. Roughly £50-£100.

There are a few irons that have caught my eye in the CPC catalogue but they're unbranded so I'm dubious.

    Hi,

Why don't you have a look at the ANTEX range of soldering stations. I use the 660 TC station, and can really recomend it as a good all rounder to use for repair and construction. It's a bit more pricey than 100 pounds, but really good quality and you will be buying locally and not some Chinese garbage.

There are different bits available and it's very easy to change to another bit size if needed.Go have a look on their website for more info.

    Regards

    Leon

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

      https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/4001275635593.html
Is there any good soldering station which is possible to use 900M-TJ-I tip and have inexpensive or reasonable price in aliexpress?

Recommendations of quality soldering station and (separate) hot air station
      by caprider
      Hey,

I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.

I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.

      1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.

      2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option....

KSGER C245 Soldering station PSU 220V only?
      by mkbehbeh
I purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.

      I am...

Yihua 992DA+ Hot air gun and soldering rework station, burnt mark
      by Peter_1402
      Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
      1. Soldering iron works great
      2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude...
