Metcal MX-DS1 desoldering handpiece "shop air"?

I've just bought this desoldering gun for my MX-500 system,and the PDF says it requires "shop air" to desolder with it.I am hungarian and my dictionary has no result to "shop air" so I dont know what it means... Does it mean compressed air? Or I need a vacuum pump to normally work with it?

It means that the device does not have a pump to suck air, it relies on you having a separate device already in the store.

Yes I know that it it needs an external device.(Only the SP440 series has built in pump)But my question is vacuum pump or air compressor?

Yes shop air means compressed air.

Depending on amount of air it draws (measured in Cubic feet in the US) you may need a sizable compressor pump and tank to keep a constant steady vacuum at the tip.

It probably relies on the same principle that a compressed air vacuum does.

Both.

Im guessing it uses a venturi style pump.

Thank you for the answers guys! I've found the own manual of the MX-DS1 and it recommends 80PSI which is about 5,5 Bar.I've tried it with a refrigerator compressor and its worked fine.The only thing left now is to find an air supply with 5,5 Bar adjustable pressure
