    Corsair CX-600 photos

As promised, photos of the thing.

Got a bunch from a nighbour shop, asking if I could take a look on them.
    Some even smelling of new.

After I searched the net and saw the horror stories of DOA units, then the RMA replacements failing also, etc, i got sad about corsair.

This one specifically has no 5VSB. Maybe I will play a little with it, but after reading about them, and taking a look, I have already explained them that even if I could discover what is wrong with them, and fix it, it would not be economically viable for them.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

      Re: Corsair CX-600 photos

Would be very interesting to find out why these are failing, even when brand new!

At least the caps are somewhat decent - not CapXon or Teapo!

I'm guessing there is a MOSFET that connects all the grounds togather when the PSU gets a signal to turn on.

Edit: And its got a temp sensor

Could the problems be only because of the Samxon GF ? I will be testing the obvious parts and measuring voltages today. Any other place of interest you would suggest measuring ?

Start out by testing the main cap and see if it has nearly 300VDC on it.

GFs are only one bad series from Samxon I think. It's like Chemi-Cons KZG, very usefull for manufacturers and their „warranty engineering“.

It shows 173V in the big cap ( voltage here is 127VAC ) . From the automatic 110/220 switching, I believe this psu to have some kind of active pfc. In that case, shouldn´t the voltages in the cap measure about 270 - 300V ? It is a Samxon LP 270uF x 400V, btw.

About 390-400V when running. If there is no 5V stby, that is where to start, as that powers the PFC.

If the 5vsb doesn't work, nothing else will work. By the way.......remember the Bestec ATX-250 12E mobo killer? The problem with it was..........bad 5vsb circuit!

Try jumpering the green PS_ON wire to ground. then check the voltage on that cap.

I've got several that still work perfectly, of course the original fuhjyyu capacitors have all been replaced. These weren't bad PSUs with the exception of the caps. The 2 transistor 5vsb circuit is not the best of designs but was relatively common for the time and with good caps is generally not an issue.

Per Kc8adu´s advice, I will first ressolder all the primary, just to be sure that isn´t the problem. After, will need to the little board that seems to be in charge of the 5vsb transformer. That is so hidden between the other parts that will give a little trouble.

I will look in the other ones if I can find one to compare voltages....

Isn't there no 5vsb transformer in this supply?

Check to see if the PWM control IC is getting power.

Also, when you jumper the PS_ON to ground, check to see if the big MOSFET on the secondary side heatsink turns on.

                                        Re: Corsair CX-600 photos

Well, even after finding some open resistors around the 5vbs circuito, no dice.

I removed the little board with the 5VSB controller, and sure it is toast. Could not decide if it has 5 or 6 legs. There is a hole for one, but it disappeared.

The marking in the chip is K1P, but that led just to diodes, in a different encapsulation.

The other psu that I was using as reference, has a ICE3BR465J, PDIP, in this board. The owner of the psus wants them back, and has already said that doesn´t want to pay much for the fix, so I will probably just call it quits and give them back to him.

My "reference" one has the 5VSB functioning, but just give a little twitch in the fan when trying to power on. The rectifiers don´t seem to be shorted. Tried with load ( 2 hard disks ) and without. Will replace the caps in the secondary with whatever I can find here, just as a scientific experiment.

Weird behavior on 3.3V rail of a CORSAIR CX600
                                          by bimole
                                          Hi,

A colleague gave me an apparently ill CORSAIR CX600.
He told me that he heard a banging noise, and smelt the magic smoke.
After tearing down the PSU, no burnt component, everything seems OK, but the PSU often refuses to stay ON. When shorting PS_ON to GND, the fan spins a bit a finally stops. No output voltages.

I tried to treat some apparently bad solder joins and finally it seems to work OK... on the 12V and 5V rails!
It's another story on the 3.3V rail...

I have some devices to test deeply PSUs (scope, AC source, electronic load)...

Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450Pro4 mobo wont start
                                          by Ibod
HI I have a PC using a Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450 Pro4 mother board that won't power on after a shutdown (replaced a dead drive in a raid array) Not the boot drive.

With most things unplugged, including the 24 pin ATX connector, but not the ATX12v to cpu, I have +5.01V on the +5vsb pin 9 from the PSU. When I plug the 24 pin back in to the mobo, the +5vsb fluctuates between 1.1v & 1.9v.

Not sure where to go from here ?

Is the PSU at fault or is the mobo causing the problem

Look forward to any help :-)

                                          If I plug the 24...

Random Shutdowns/Startup Failure with Corsair SFX 450

                                          Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a frustrating issue with my Corsair SFX 450 power supply. After an undefined period of operation, my PC will either suddenly restart or, in some cases, it won't start at all until I disconnect the power cable and reconnect it. This erratic behavior occurs intermittently, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact conditions under which it happens.

For context, I have tested the PSU using an electronic load at 150W, and under those controlled conditions, it functions flawlessly. This leads me to...

                                          Asus FX507ZC4 DANJLFMBAB0 REV B I need photos
                                          by saimom
                                          Hello everyone!

Please help me determine which microcontroller was in this place.
Logically, I guess that this is a ddr4 PWM memory controller and some kind of Richtek, but which one?
Thise motherboard came after another service, where they say that water got on the controller and it burned down and they dismantled it.
They did not take photos before the intervention

The DANJLFMBAB0 REV B board, schematics, boards and photos of the motherboard were not found on the network, but I may have searched badly-((
Maybe someone has a photo of this piece,...

Hi all, i'm asking all to reduce photos to a more comfortable resolution before post, the better like around 2000x2000, otherwise many PC / Tablets / phones refuses often to load them or has strong defection... today's digital cameras integrated in phones especially are a mockery because them saves photos at enormous resolutions with much less the real definition, so reducing them is only a good deal.. THANKS!!...
