Sony KDL46w4100 tcon board F1 fuse

Hello, a tv repair place has identified my TCON board as being bad offered to fix it for 300 dollars, took the tv home and pulled the board, i am getting no continuity and my resistance is showing open through the F1 Fuse. On the surface of the fuse it say LF 7A, any idea as to a part number so i can order a new one? the model on the board is 404652ASNC6LV3.7.

    You can try this:
    http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...1CT-ND/1905919

You lay a new fuse on top of the old fuse and solder both ends to the old fuse.
The board may have short circuits, so order more then one.

Just to check though - the symptom of the fault, no picture, but screen is lit up, and sound is present? Post a picture of the board, there could be a shorted ceramic capacitor on it.

Yes, those are the exact symptoms, turns on screen lights up, good sound, then after about 15 seconds it shuts off the standby blinks 14 times. Ill try to post a good picture of the board

With a multimeter... but post some pictures so we can highlight the possible ones.

I guess the TV is shutting down because it is not seeing the T-con working. I have not worked on any Sony TVs so I don't know if this is how they do it. It seems kind of strange to me.

Can you see those light brown rectangular shape, they should have something like Cxx next to them, they are MULTILAYER CERAMIC CAPACITORS (MLCC).
Set your Ohm meter to 200 Ohms range and just measure the resistance on both end of each cap, we are looking for something in less than 2 Ohms (the resistance had to be low enough to blow 7A fuse) if they are bad.

not sure what you mean about setting it to the 200 ohm range, the multimeter im using is a fluke 115 truerms multimeter when i set it to ohms it looks like it has an auto setting the the side it has a M and the ohm symbol. when i put that on any of the ones next to the fuse (c372. cd253) they read between 6 and 8

6 and 8 what? Ohms, k ohms, M ohms? If unsure, press hold, take a picture and upload it.

M ohms, at least the guy was honest, he said "we can fix it for 300 but i wouldnt recommend it. Since the screen itself is going bad, i just want to get this fuse fixed and hopefully buy a few months out of it.

"but the fuse just reads OL as if it was open" that is correct reading since you have blown fuse.
I think you can activate manual range setting of your meter, see your user manual.

Lets do this, put meter in Ohm mode, then short the test leads together and then step through the range and tell us what you see.

Since I have a Fluke 117, you want the one that says 600 ohms. This is the lowest scale.
