Hi everyone I need to be pushed in the right direction for this one. This is my daughters tv and she said hey dad fix it.If you look at the pictures. I just don't want to buy new inverters, and have it happen again, the connector for the master inverters fried, and it looks like the whole board got damaged the caps almost desoldered themselves. I checked all the power from the PB and it checks out ok tv running and on stand by. What is EER , PDIM , ADIM i dont know how to check them.If I seen that burn when I was working on 480 v panels I would look for a short or a bad ground first. Any push in the right direction would be appreciated . Thanks

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
That's a common fault on this model/panel. The connector was not seated properly at the factory, causing excessive resistance leading to excessive heat. You can trace the 24V, GND and other wires and bridge them with some cabling capable of at least 5A.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
The tv is still working Is there any thing I can use to insulate the jumper wires?Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
So I can just find a good spot to ground. The connector is it the inverter connector or the power board connector , or both?Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
Just bridge the connections individually, or use thicker wire to combine 24V and GND into one or two connections. Nothing else needed. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

The bridging worked , boards are cool and tv is working good.
Thanks for the help.Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
I sold the tv, but I desoldered the connector off each board, and cleaned it up.
Then I soldered 2 wires to connect each board . One for ground and one for power. I put a line of solder for the power also for the ground. I used # 12 strand wire for the fix.Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
hi splitcrete
thanks for the quick reply. I actually have minimal experience soldering but looked to take this task on my own by individually soldering the 14 wires to bridge the master 1 and master 2 boards. The pins are very close together and i couldn't even manage to solder a single wire (the connector is still attached to the board)
How come you only soldered two wires? Where did you put this line of solder? I tried using a volt meter to check voltage at each pin. Most came back as 0 volts, but two pins read ~50 volts (looked to be pin 2 and pin 10 on the master 1 board).
Looks like your board was actually slightly different. It is a Rev.4, mine is a Rev.6.Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
Unsolder the two connectors. Clean up the mess Solder wick works good for that. Once you have solder cleaned up, follow with alcohol to remove the old flux. I think half were power and half were ground. I put a line of solder across the pads for all four points .
Don't solder your power to your ground.... Then I just soldered a 3-4 '' wire from ground to ground, and power to power. I drew a little picture of what I did .. Don't laugh I am not an artist. Good luck.Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
Hello! I believe I may have a similar problem. My connecting sockets are blackened and the jumper cables were burnt badly. I was considering getting new boards but from what I understand you are saying new cables may solve the problem? I know my main board is working on my toshiba 55g310u because I can play music on it and my Tcon board looks fine and it comes off of the main board anyways. Do you think new jumpers would fix my problem?
Also before I purchase new boards or jumpers, is there any way to know if the panel is good? or should the panel be ok?Last edited by Robo94; 04-08-2017, 12:47 PM.Comment

Re: lg 55ld520-ua inverter burn out.
Remove the connectors, clean up thoroughly then bridge the connections as discussed above. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't then that the time to consider replacement boards.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

by howardc64Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
- Backlight on, no image
- Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
- Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
- Buffer board is pretty simple

by x_orange90_xI just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.
I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it... -
by valvashonFor some reason I'm just not going to let this 19" TV defeat me. I guess because I have a schematic to work from I feel like I'm oh so close.
History- while adding a turn-on circuit I let a small screw roll under the power board. Worked through all of that circuitry, probably replacing a MOSFET and PWM controller that were not bad but I was following the service manual. Finally figured out that the power supply is in working order when the inverter section (for the backlights) is disconnected. When the +12 supply to the inverter is disconnected the +12 and +5 will come up...1 Photo -
by eccerr0rIf I had a solar fed grid tie inverter (GTI), a modified sine wave inverter, and a power outage occurred, what would happen if you disconnected mains, backfed the modified sinewave inverter (MSI) into house power, and hooked up the GTI to the output of the MSI, would it work?
Next thing is trying to charge the batteries using solar power, but that's another issue ... -
by mitsu2kHello folks, this is a last ditch effort. I thought I would seek your expertise before giving up.. I have been working on this thing for over 2 months and have gotten nowhere. Here is the issue:
Inverter powers on and immediately red GFI light comes on and inverter will not complete the initialization process.
There is no error code on the screen. I have removed most of the Y capacitors and tested to no avail.
All relays are good.
I replaced the current transducer- same problem. Checked most of the transistors and diodes and all appear good. I wish I could get my hands... - Loading...
