I have a Abit AN7 board here. It works great, but the onboard sound is dead. From a closer inspection, it seems the onboard sound chip is physically damaged. Does anybody know anywhere I can get a Realtek ALC658 chip? Anybody have a dead board with one on it or similar?

Re: Where to find ALC658 chip?
It's my sister's PC. She wants to sell the board, as we're parting out that PC. I didn't think it would go for much with broken onboard sound.
Scenic - I don't know how the German postal system works, but for the US at least, if an envelope is less than 1/4" thick, it doesn't even need a customs form. Maybe you could cut out the area around the chip and ship just a piece of the board in a padded envelope or similar? I doubt that would be a whole lot to ship. Of course, that would mean destroying the board, so that's really only an option if the board has other irreparable damage.Comment

by double_DDHi all,
As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?
I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.
Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard... -

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -
Hi, Im trying to find the area on the chip that contains all of my laptops information, but I havent found it. The laptop won't turn on anymore. I was updating the BIOS, and it was supposed to reboot itself, but it wouldnt turn back on. I ve tried every possible solution, every alternative on Lenovo forums, everywhere; I ve taken it to technicians, and no one has been able to fix it. I've already read the chip that contains the BIOS (Winbond 25Q128JSVQ) and searched for my laptops data, but they're nowhere to be found. I only find scribbles and lines of text indicating errors. Has anyone had a...

I have this Corsair VS450 PSU which lies dead and has an exploded TNY chip. Upon removing primary side parts like mosfets, the bulk cap and the bridge rectifier I've found that the primary cap is also a goner. (Photos)
The mosfets and the diode are fine and survived the collapse it seems. The TNY chip is shattered and from the online review/sources it was probably a TNY176~177....5 Photos - Loading...
