    Where to find ALC658 chip?

I have a Abit AN7 board here. It works great, but the onboard sound is dead. From a closer inspection, it seems the onboard sound chip is physically damaged. Does anybody know anywhere I can get a Realtek ALC658 chip? Anybody have a dead board with one on it or similar?

i could look through my pile of dead boards but the shipping would make it pointless i guess :/

It's my sister's PC. She wants to sell the board, as we're parting out that PC. I didn't think it would go for much with broken onboard sound.

Scenic - I don't know how the German postal system works, but for the US at least, if an envelope is less than 1/4" thick, it doesn't even need a customs form. Maybe you could cut out the area around the chip and ship just a piece of the board in a padded envelope or similar? I doubt that would be a whole lot to ship. Of course, that would mean destroying the board, so that's really only an option if the board has other irreparable damage.

i've got a whole box of unfixable boards with damaged traces and other stuff..

          international envelope would be 1.70er (2.19US$) or 2.20eur (2.84US$) .. (*click*)
i'm gonna look at the boards tomorrow.. 2:10am here now *yawn*

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
            by double_DD
            Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Common SPI bios chip programming Questions and Answers
            ----------------------------------------------------------

            Q: I have a bios request,i can`t post my backup as i can`t read from the chip.

A: If you can`t read from it how do you expect to write to it ?.

Q: Why is my bios chip unreadable ?.

A: The programmer is faulty or has a worn or broken zif socket.

The USB cable is frayed, connector pins worn or some other physical damage.

Not enough amperage or voltage to power the programmer properly.

            Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH 81Q4 dead IT8226E-192 chip
            by geotox
Hi, after a short circuit during power cord plug-in the IT8226E-192 chip on my Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH 81Q4 died. I'm trying to order a replacement for it. There are some similar chips available online, but they are not 1-to-1 identical to my chip. For example, I see there's a 1921BXA chip available for sale, while mine is 1932BXA. Do you guys know if there's any compatibility table available which I can use to see what chips are compatible? Should I just order a similar chip and try it? Will I need to program the chip before installing, or will the laptop do it for me?

            Thanks...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
            by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...
