I'm also a 462 fan!

And by far this is the only system I play with since ages. There's nothing going on dual's, quad's, extremes etc that gives you half of the excitement as running a nF2 in 2631Mhz at 250 FSB x 10.5 stable using 2222t and CPC on!

And to get passed the 2631Mhz barrier at 250Mhz FSB I recently had my DFI Lanparty recap with Rubycon's and I am also upgrading the system to Liquid Cooling. I plan to get this baby running soon above 2700Mhz.

It was fun to get that nF2 to run that on AIRCOOLING! That was the limit, I never wanted to push further then 1.8v in air.

But now with Liquid Cooling and new Caps I plan to get things even higher.

Do you remember your Mobile Stepping? And whats your Socket A mobo?

Here's a few more additions to mention since my last post...
I got my hands on 3 freebies a few months ago, (2) Micron PCs w/Intel 1.1GHz Celery Tualatins on Intel 815 motherboards, 512 MB of PC133 CAS2 Micron SDRAM; and a Compaq AMD 1.1GHz Thunderbird on a FIC/Compaq Uwave VIA KT133 based motherboard, 256 MB of SDRAM.
They were all dirty as hell! The following pics are the fruits of my tinkering.

One of them retained the motherboard/cpu combo. But the TGR psu was swapped with a ACBEL/FortronSource 235W whisper quiet unit.
The HSF was swapped with a Thermaltake Volcano 6 with a 80mm fan grafted to it. Original 92mm case fan swapped for a quieter one out of a Dell workstation.

Intel 1.1 GHz Tualatin Celeron.
Intel D815EFV mATX motherboard.
512 MB PC133 CAS2 Micron SDRAM (maxed-out unfortunately)
Nvidia Geforce4 MX440 64 MB 8x AGP DVI card.
Samsung DVD-ROM.
IDE UDMA-100 HDD slide-out chassis.
VIA chipset USB 2.0 PCI card.
Airnet 11b/g Wifi PCI card.
Win XP sp2.




AFTER part deux:

The 2nd got the intel motherboard pulled and the recapped DFI ATX Socket-A motherboard took up residence. I still have some finishing touches before it's operational. (re-attach northbridge heatsink, solder jumpers to case wire harness) Eventually, a recapped Powerman 250W psu will replace the F-yu capped TGR psu.
I plan to try out Astaro Security Gateway with it.

Here's what I did with the Compaq...
Stripped it bare of parts and tossed the fugly minitower case, and utilized a spare old In-win mATX case. Combined it with parts from my defunct DFI-AMD media PC in previous post. It's now running as my current media PC in my living room, and double-duty as internet gateway/router.

250W Delta psu.
AMD 1.1 GHz Thunderbird.
512 MB PC133 CAS2 Micron SDRAM.

Yes, zip ties. The fins of these 60x80mm heatsinks were spaced just perfectly to retain the ends when slid in place. I placed 4 through the fan screw holes and suspended the fan above the heatsink. Once zipped, the tension held it in place while the bending of the ties pushed against the housing. Very secure.
An aside, I discovered the ties isolated fan vibration very well, they act like springs.

I installed an 80mm fan similarly to cool my Seagate 400 MB HDD. That fan was a cheap sleeve bearing fan that vibrated when horizontal. But vibrations don't transfer to the case.

Zip ties are great!

Recap ROCKS!

Just received my nF2 system from Topcat the mobo was fine but had a lot of Teapos and OST's that was holding the overclock back.

This 'old' nF2 system was running stable at 10,5x250 (2630Mhz) but I knew I could brake the 250Mhz barrier if I had the courage to send a perfectly working motherboard for a complete class A recap (Rubycons mcz).

Of course I couldn't do it myself so I sent the mobo to Topcat and as soon as I received this old platform is amazing me so far (look at the ss's I took today the memory bench timings are running close to a Intel Core 2 Duo e6700!!!!!!!)

Also after the recap my mobo is running 10oC cooler! On air cooling it used to be at full load 59oC and now it barely reaches 50oC.

So Recap mobos DOES indeed worth the buck!

Same system posted above is now running at 2666Mhz amazing 10x266Mhz with 2-2-2-2-2t-9 and cpc ON (cmd1)!!! Impressive to run at those tight timings(at least for me that couldn't get passed 250Mhz):

You have a good stepping I think the ony thing you need is a good modded bios for that NF-7 to get it running @ 2500Mhz.

I used to use Tictac's BIOS on my NF-7.
