Re: DELL SX270 off EBAY
It's not recommended to change the voltage of replacement caps (nor either the uf but in that case it wont mater 820-1000uf) you can end up making more bad then good....

Re: DEAD - Antec Neo HE 550 (no signs of bad caps) - with pictures
lOl Chris you bet! But those 18amps can't handle that DFI
I use a OCZ Powerstrem 520ADJ, I need 32amps on 12v rail for that and ajust the volts to 3.35v - 5.18v and 12.18v for stability.
This NEO I got from other PC that was supposed to be dead.
PC is working fine but this Antec is dead.
I'll try to follow your tips can you just poit on the pics what is the primary and secondary that you mean I should start working (my 1st psu ressucitation hobby/job).

DEAD - Antec Neo HE 550 (no signs of bad caps) - with pictures
Hi guys,
This Antec died on me.
Symptoms: When I start PSU it's fan spins for 2 secs then stops, PC doesn't power on.
When I 'jump start' PSU without a PC the fan spins in low rotation and the readings in all rails are 0.0v.
Where should I start to look first?
I didn't see any sings of bulging caps or leaks, here are some pics:...

ADVICE please (asrock 4coredual-vsta Recap)
Hi guys,
Gonna recap the 1000 and 1500uf lines out of the box for the following reasons:
But I have so many choices to make:
------------
*16v 1000uf:
- Nichicon's models to choose:
VR, VZ, HE and PW
- Chemicon:
KMG, KY and KZE
------------
*6.3v 1500uf:
- Nichicon's models to choose:
VR, VZ, HE and PW
- Chemicon:
KY, KZE and LXZ
I need to maintain the 8mm diameter (no room for fat caps like Pana's FM).
Thanks!

Re: What motherboard brands have good caps?
I just got a cheap C2D system and the ASRock 4coredual-vsta has these caps:
- Near CPU: TK's (atwy) and OST's (rlx).
- Near DDR slots: fat Nichicon's (hm) and these that I could not find a brand:
What are those?
More pics all around:

So what you guys think about this cheap mobo caps (US$38.00)?Re: What motherboard...

Re: Post your system.......
You have a good stepping I think the ony thing you need is a good modded bios for that NF-7 to get it running @ 2500Mhz.
I used to use Tictac's BIOS on my NF-7....

Recap ROCKS!
Just received my nF2 system from Topcat the mobo was fine but had a lot of Teapos and OST's that was holding the overclock back.
This 'old' nF2 system was running stable at 10,5x250 (2630Mhz) but I knew I could brake the 250Mhz barrier if I had the courage to send a perfectly working motherboard for a complete class A recap (Rubycons mcz).
Of course I couldn't do it myself so I sent the mobo to Topcat and as soon as I received this old platform is amazing me so far (look at the ss's I...

Re: Socket 775 Mainboard damaged - repair possible?
Bump - Can you guys identify the caps on this board for me Ilook at pics above)? Anyone worth changing for an out of the box board?
I saw this about a similar board of asrock:
"Just to let anyone that is interested know what capacitors are on the ASRock's 4CoreDX90-VSTA, here they are:
Panasonic FJ's (near the mosfets area)
JPCON TK's (near the mosfets area)
OST RLP's and RLS's (near the ram and pci slots)"
Tx!

Re: Post your system.......
Thanks mate!
It was fun to get that nF2 to run that on AIRCOOLING! That was the limit, I never wanted to push further then 1.8v in air.
But now with Liquid Cooling and new Caps I plan to get things even higher.
Do you remember your Mobile Stepping? And whats your Socket A mobo?

Socket's 462/A Rocks!
I'm also a 462 fan!
And by far this is the only system I play with since ages. There's nothing going on dual's, quad's, extremes etc that gives you half of the excitement as running a nF2 in 2631Mhz at 250 FSB x 10.5 stable using 2222t and CPC on!
This is my nF2 hobby system:
DFI LanParty NF2 Ultra-B *Taiwan* + lots of heatsinks

Re: My First Recap (Photos & Video)
Thanks guys, indeed it was really good to pick this out from the "trash" waiting line and reviving it.
Harvey, you are right, Bat and CPU out before any job like this.
I did take them out to do the Mobo wash, I also washed that system's PSU crowded with dirt. So cool to see that full PSU covered in water!
I don't know if anyone here have ever tried the Dipping method on PSU's before... It sure worked! Thumbs up for Simple Green (concentrated) and distilled water and to accelerate the drying...

My First Recap (Photos & Video)
Hello, I'm happy because with the much appreciated help of this great forum I performed my first recap!
The job was ok, the Panasonic FM caps where a little bit larger then the original ones, but it worked out fine in the end.
I didn't have all the proper tools to do it, so I used a non-working socket 462 mobo and decided to "revive her". And it was easier because it used only 9 3.300uf 6.3v caps (the others where below 400uf line).
The bad caps where NICHICON HM(M) series, most of them on the left side where bulging and beginning to leak...Last edited by Jor3llBR; 07-19-2007, 05:16 PM.

Re: Did it just die? *pics*
BIOS socket is likely to be your problem.
A friend of mine with a socket A nF2 board did a small crack (really tiny compared to yours) to the surface of the bios socket and his motherboard was never the same.
He tried everything, glue etc to get it's original grip again but his board still acts strange:
- doesn't boot when he turns the psu off;
- doesn't boot when adding a device to the mobo;
- only boots when it wants actually.
The only way is to get a new socket and solder it...

Re: DFI Lanparty B / Ultra Infinity (nF2)
Bump.
I want to do the same on my DFI LP nF2 UltraB Taiwan, but the information is scattered or missing.
Can we have some links here for more details? Can someone re-host the pictures?
And also instead of doing all Trodas cap replacements, can I just replace the TEAPOS for Pana's FM (if the others are in good shape of course) and if so can I use Trodas diagram or they only work if doing them all?
Thanks!

Re: Cleaning Motherboards (Dipping)
I'm about to the the process of Mobo cleaning as described (simple green and water), but I'm afraid of the high % of calcium on the water we have here.
After the water treatment can I dip my entire motherboard inside a tank full of 70-80% Alcohol or Distilled water before I dry it?
Thanks.
