    Re: Power Supply upgrade question

i agree....try to rma it, but if they're deaf and time is just passing on, it's obvious they don't care.
that said, give them some more time...also, check if you did all they require...as toasty says

      Re: Power Supply upgrade question

I went back and dug out my emails when I did my RMA's...

You should have received immediately from their support an email with a subject line such as this:

"Your new trouble ticket, ID: 999999, has been submitted"

You do not reply to these emails. Everything is handled on their support server with forms that are used to respond.

The next received email should be from someone in support with subject such as:

"A Comment Has Been Added To Your Trouble Ticket, ID: 998877"

Instructions in there tell you how to communicate with them.

      In general the contents:
      --------------------------------------------
** The Smart power series PSU has been replaced by the Earthwatts series... blah-blah-blah

      1. The Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) applications are accessed through a web page... (with the URL in there)

      2. Please review our RMA Policy & Procedures at... (URL and more info)

      IMPORTANT
      3. The RMA number for return of your defective part will be emailed to you the next business day and also posted in your ticket. ***Be sure to check your SPAM email folders because our RMA confirmation emails may be blocked or filtered out by your email host. You may want to add our domain to your whitelist. PLEASE NOTE: we have received multiple complaints, primarily from customers of hotmail.com and msn.com email services, that they have been unable to receive our RMA emails.***

      4. If you have an open support ticket, it will be closed to improve system performance... With more info on how to access you ticket.

Then a link farther down on how to reply directly to the email.
      --------------------------------------------

You have a choice to pay for a new one and return yours while waiting for theirs (cross-ship). They credit your card once yours is received and confirmed in warranty or whatever was agreed upon.

Or, you can return yours and they'll send the replacement once yours is received and confirmed. You -MUST- have an RMA number or it will just get kicked back to you.

Total round trip time from opening ticket to received replacement was 8 days. I did the cross-ship method.

      Good Luck!

        Re: Power Supply upgrade question

Okay, thanks! I think I did everything correctly then. I created a ticket, got the e-mail, and I can log on with my e-mail and the ticket ID to check for updates on my problem.
I haven't gotten a reply yet though. I'm going to see if there is no other way to contact them.

Thanks again for taking the time to address this, Toasty! I appreciate it.

          Re: Power Supply upgrade question

A reply is usually forthcoming within the first 24 hours. Patience. You'll likely end up with a decent unit that you can-
          a) leave alone and see how it does
          b) run it for a while with the intent to recap it in the near future
          c) open it and recap it on sight. screw the warranty

You can call with your ticket number. But, I would just wait a day and see what comes of it.

          Good Job!

Man that sucks and it caught fire in NJ? Too funny.

How did UPS handle the damages? Hopefully they had records on every package in the truck.

I can imagine the letter. We're sorry but your package spontaneously combusted en route to your location .

Being that close to Camden, I was surprised the truck wasn't up on blocks with the wheels and doors missing.

                Re: Power Supply upgrade question

I finally got a reply today!

They said that if it's within the 3-year warranty, I can request RMA. It isn't, so I can't do that AND they closed the ticket so I can't comment.

I don't think this is going anywhere.

Soooo, I need a new one. any tips, I know there was one in here, any more?

                  Re: Power Supply upgrade question

They ALWAYS close the ticket. You can reopen it. Gotta read the emails carefully.

How can they prove it isn't within 3 years? How can you prove that it is?

Nothing says you have to have an invoice for that PSU in particular..........

If you're not creative, they will beat you.

In other words they can't prove when you bought it by when they built it.
Warranty starts when you buy it.

                      >How can you prove that it is?

if he can't then they probably won't care even about 3 year mark, let alone longer than that.

and then, to find 2 year old invoice for (simillar..uhm) antec psu..somewhere...uh...

                      tough...

i would either recap it or buy new one. afaik, just talking to those assholes is not really worth the effort...
