Re: HP d530 CMT
Is the OS on the IDE drive or the SATA drive. If you are booting from the SATA drive the OS has to be on SATA "boot" drive to work. If it isn't on the boot drive then all the PC will see is a empty nonbootable drive at startup."It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Re: HP d530 CMT
i bet the master boot record is not active on the SATA. try re-installing (a retail xp home cd will work, find a torrent, or use a linux cd) and then try again. the bootloadr is only on one drive based on your symptoms. re-installing should fix it. be sure to unplug the ide drive first.sigpic

Re: HP d530 CMT
good. that works too.
at least it wasnt like in linux where you could install the boot loader on an olg 6gb drive to allow booting to a non-bootable drive (a raid array on a non-bootable card). in that case, both drives must be present for it to work. but then again, linux has cds that let you re-install the boot loader only.sigpic

Re: HP d530 CMT
Not sure if this relates to your problem, but if there's multiple drives installed then this explains how the letters get handed out:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/51978
That article was written for MS-DOS, but in my experience it's also correct for Windows, including default letters assigned by WinNt/2k/XP/etc.
Under NT series, it's possible to change the drive letters post-install from within the OS, but that can cause problems with programs that think stuff is installed on a different letter.Last edited by gdement; 09-24-2009, 10:16 PM.Comment

Re: HP d530 CMT
re-install or ignore it- it will still screw it up. drive letters is a bit dumb when you think of it... unix-like systems dont use them and we dont get this problem...sigpic

by clabrNeed help to solve some problems with this laptop.
After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)
Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)
Before this had happened I observed some other problems:

by privato89Hello everyone,
I'm facing an issue with a HEG-001 motherboard that is unable to complete the Second-Stage Boot. I'd like to start directly with my conclusion, which is the decision to replace the MAX77621AEWI chip, and understand if it could be a correct evaluation.
Before I dive into the process that led me to this decision, I want to mention that I have a fully equipped lab where I can perform any kind of tests.
Let's begin:

by hinisaI'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.
When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.
After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:
Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...-

by NolesFanHello all... TV started boot looping. Opened the back panel and tried to isolate the problem. Just PSB no boot loop. PSB and MB no boot loop. Plug in the LVDS from panel to MB and boot looping starts up. It doesnt matter of order that I plug the LVDS ribbons back in, only 1 and no boot loop but as soon as 2nd one plugs in boot looping. I then noticed a flicker on the screen when I was closing the clip on the harness to the LVDS. Shut the lights off so I can see better, and I noticed as i slowly close it, I will get a picture, but as soon as it clips in, I lose picture and booting happens. So I...2 Photos
