          Re: Bargain or swindle

Go with the M2A-MX SE instead of the M2N-MX. The ATI/AMD chipset of the M2A is far more reliable than the NVidia 6100 on the M2N. The solder-bump/underfill problems with NVidia are across the board, though the failures were first seen on the mobile 8400 etc.

I have the M2A-MX SE with the Athlon 64 X2 2.4 GHz (4600+) and it is an excellent value combo. Even better value is the Sempron LE1200 (45W), single-core without HW virtualization - so it's probably useful mainly for HTPC/entertainment rigs.

Very good price for a new PC
I did an exercise based on your previous suggestion, the one at 258€, and searching on the shop I can use, I was able to build a closest configuration for 300~320€ because I didn't find the same parts.
I have recently started to use this shop www.primestore.it, can you tell me if their prices are good respect your vendors?
I think in Italy price are higher than most of European states.

              Re: Bargain or swindle

              you can compare via
              http://www.plaisio.gr/
              http://www.multirama.gr
these are the two shop chains which destroyed the market and close most of the little shops. They made superstores near my office so there is no need to go anywhere else.

i see the primestore have intel boards, nice. They also have what i think is available stock numbers for each item. i wish our shops would have that.

in the end i think the prices ok

                Re: Bargain or swindle

My reference is hrw.it because it's located 40 km from my home, so I can spare shipping fees.

Anyway a possible new config is:

59,80 - Cooler Master Elite 334 black case + 520W psu (I'm not fond of CM psus, they usually employ passive pfc and average caps: that's the cheaper among decent products anyway)
                42,70 - Asus M2A-VM
                49,80 - AMD Athlon X2 4450E
                34,01 - 2 x 1 GB DDR2-800 Kingston value
                38,39 - HDD Maxtor Dmax21 250 GB (don't hold your nose, it's a rebranded Seagate Barracuda 7200.9)
                20,05 - DVD-RW LG GSA-H20NS15
                ----------------------
                244,84 euro VAT included

You may skimp 17 euro by choosing only 1 ram module and 20 euro by replacing the Athlon for a Sempron 1250LE, which is single core : I don't suggest both choices, but that's your friend's money ...

If you refer to my friend, I have already solved the problem, I bought an Asrock P4I65G for 44€ and she is happy for now.
Anyway it is interesting to have your advice and I will ask for them when I will need suggestion to satisfy new request.

                  Ciao
