Hi Everyone,
Just got given an older Acer 5738ZG laptop today. Owner spilt a glass of red wine on the keyboard. When he took it here, it started up but would beep continuously during post - I assume the keyboard keys may be stuck internally cause of the red wine.
Laptop still starts up no issues - works fine with external USB keyboard. Cannot see any spill to the motherboard.
I removed the keyboard and gave it a good rinse down with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol - then sun dried. Plugged it back in and keyboard is completely dead - does not work at all. Doesn't do the stuck key beep thing anymore however.
So before I start sinking cash into it (otherwise we will bin it) - dead keyboard or dead motherboard? Could the wine spill have ruined the keyboard and motherboard keyboard circuitry???
Thanks.
