Re: Asus RoG Strix GL553V - Keyboard Dead
I'm now thinking just to try the 2nd IC but, but on the other hand I from an logical point of view it doesn't make sense that the keyboard is now getting the keystrokes, but there are all over the place and that this is related to "something messed up" with the IC internally.
If it would be an counterfeit one It wouldn't be haveing be programmed...right?
I looked throught the boardview and the RGB Backlight for the keyboard have their own dedicated driver IC but this one looks to be controlled by the...

Re: Asus RoG Strix GL553V - Keyboard Dead
So I got two ICs from CN and finally I replaced them.
After the first boot it looks that it was auto-flashed.
So the good new the Keyboard is now reacting on keystrokes.
Partial success.
The bad news are the key bindings are completly messed up.
e.g. Right arrow is the windows key, space bar is "T" etc.
Also the Keyboard Backlight is still not reacting.
(It shoul light up if the system starts)
And the Asus Software doesn't find it either....

Re: Asus RoG Strix GL553V - Keyboard Dead
Thanks a lot!
I don't know why I didn't found this thread during my search.
Update:
I reflashed the BIOS to the latest release from 2019 (v3.08), but without any affect.
In contrast to the problem in linked thread my USB posrt work just fine.
So I will consult the Boardview/shematics and check the reading on the board and I'll try my luck at first with the IT8176 since its's just the keyboard and it's backlight isn't working.

Asus RoG Strix GL553V - Keyboard Dead
Good day,
it just so happen that I got my hands on a Asus RoG Strix (GL553VD ~2017),
in absolute mint condition. But with a "dead" keyboard.
I checked all the obvious stuff:
Condition of the connectors, there is absolute ne evidence of liquid damage or mechanical stress. As mentioned, absolute mint condition, as it was actually never used.
All keys have no function at all, and doesn't work in the UEFI.
So I don't think it's an software/driver related issue.
I also set the UEFI to defaults to verify it's no software issue.
