WARNING! bedbugs in laptops and their cases!

got a laptop in yesterday and a bug crawled out of it while i was removing a windows password.oh shit a baby roach!
worse yet its a bedbug.the bag was loaded with them.
the velcro on the flap was white with eggs.
i sprayed the laptop, the bag, adaptor, and the area it was in right in front of the customer.he had gotten it free from his son and got more than he bargained for!

I think it depends of the region we are in.

For example,I have 2 laptops, none infested. However, one of them (a ECS Green 733 clone) smells like wet cat .

Just asking, how new was that laptop you've sprayed?

I think I once saw a few dead ones in a clear Xbox controller at a Goodwill. Bedbugs suck!

just remember that in many areas bedbugs are more common than roaches now.
one has to be carefull in a shop like ours where 20 or more items come and go in a typical day.
and just wait till you open up a cluster for a 2 year old caddilac and find live roaches!

Once I had a pioneer receiver that I trash-picked. Was listening to music and then all of a sudden it started sizzling! I quickly shut it off, I thought a cap was just about to go boom. But it ended up being a cockroach underneath the PCB... LOL!

Re: WARNING! bedbugs in laptops and their cases!

Best and easy way to kill bedbugs is to leave the pc, electronic item inside a garbage bag and leave it on the sun or if it is cold leave it outside overnight, bed bugs die fast if expose to extreme heat/cold, dont forget to seal the bags in case they try to run away.

Can't say I've come across bedbugs before. Seen all manner of things inside a TV though, usually dead or dying in some way. I've seen roaches in a tower before, gross.

Just got my bill from AT&T. Came with a crushed cockroach inside the envelope. I've never seen that before. Guess I should be glad it wasn't anthrax. Or a live one.

Re: WARNING! bedbugs in laptops and their cases!

I learned a terrible lesson about customers PCs. Had a PC from a customer and had it sitting in the work room for a few days while I was finishing other PCs (it's first come, first serve here unless you pay extra). And then the next thing I know, my work room was flooded with bugs! I ripped apart the ladies PC and it had all kinds of creepy crawlers in it. Now, we make sure we rip it apart right away to make sure there's no bugs. It was a pain getting them all out of the workroom. Especially because I'm not all about killing anymore. Ever since I got out of the Marine Corps, I can't even kill a bug.

Anyway, my friend had a bedbug infestation and they were impossible to get rid of! Be very careful. He ended up having to move. His landlord paid for an exterminator but they kept coming back. Those things are a nightmare and they're making a comeback I guess. Especially in NYC (that's about a 5 hour drive from where I live).

At one point several years ago, I thought about putting CL adds for fixing computers. But instead, I ended up finding a part time job in a repair shop. Boy, am I glad for that. Saw many occasions where people would bring something, we'd open it, and then the multi-legged beasts would scatter from the inside and go about everywhere in the room.
From that point on, I was sure as hell I would never ever do repair out of my own house, ever. Not even for friends... unless I know they are at least somewhat clean. That said, I have brought stuff from dumpsters back home. But I no longer bring them straight to the house. First I leave them outside in our backyard for a week or so and open them there. If it's below freezing, I only give them a 3-day treatment. If they smell and look okay, I might bring them in. Otherwise, I also take the extra step to thoroughly wipe everything with Windex and/or Clorox wet wipes.

I know this method is not perfect, but it's better than nothing.

dont think bedbugs have a characteristic odor unless you have a lot of them in one place, item, ect.

Acer VN7-571G - turning off by itself without warning and doing a restart

Hi. I'd like to ask something about one of my laptops, the "VN7-571G", which is behaving abnormally. It turns on and I can use it for a while. I upgraded the hardware of the laptop to be more responsive and reliable, but it turns out that it's not reliable at all. It originally had 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hybrid SSHD and a WiFi 5 card. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB, installed a 128GB SSD and instead of the SSHD, I installed a normal 2TB HDD for files. So far so good. Then I cleaned up the fans and replaced the thermal paste with some fresh Arctic MX-4. Proceeded to upgrade the WiFi card and installed...

                                          Hi,
I bought a new motherboard for my HP Elitebook 820 G1 but the warning error appears when I turn it on"
warning!! machine is not in committed state"
I realized that since it was a virgin card, some data was missing... I took it from the notebook's plate and inserted it with a tool found online but the error remains. I can't find the BUILD ID (not even on the partsurfer site). Is there a way to recover it? I also have a bios backup from the previous card, could I recover it from there? Thanks and sorry for the bad English
