Re: Saitek Corona electronic chess computer repair
On the NEC chips, 8919KX is a house number. These are GALS (Generic Array Logic or Gate Array logic). They were custom made/programed for SciSys, a manufacturer of chess computers at that time.

Re: Mule 350 Gate Opener
VAR2, next to the relay, is across the red & black wires going to the motor. With the red & black wires unplugged, just measure across the varistor with an ohm meter. If you measure a short, remove the varistor and check again.
VAR3 appears to be across the solar panel. You can look at the circuit traces to confirm. Disconnect the solar panel and measure the varistor with an ohm meter. Again, if you measure a short, remove the varistor and recheck.
R12 appears to be used to check the current of the motor. If so, a...

Btw, R12 is a current sense resister. Value is 0.01 ohms. I can't tell the physical size from the pic but this one may be close: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/CRA2512-FZ-R010ELF/CRA2512-FZ-R010ELFCT-ND/1775054Re: Mule 350 Gate Opener

Re: Help identifying old PC104 board
In the BIOS, I see the phrase "F2 for setup program" at 0x01D425
Having 640KB base memory and 3072KB extended with a 4MB module looks ok.
edit: Some of the older 286/386/486 computers required a floppy disc with the BIOS setup program.Last edited by ReverendJones; 08-19-2014, 08:01 PM.

Opinion on Enermax ERV1050EWT Power Supply
I see that AMD has dumped a bunch of new Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050 watt power supplies on the surplus market. They look pretty decent and have good reviews. At $40 each, they are just giving them away. Do these have any known problems or are they just being dumped because they are outdated?I see that AMD has dumped a bunch of new Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050 watt power supplies on the surplus market. Re: No love for SuperMicro C7Q67
The 6 beeps indicate "Flash update has failed" came from an AMI document on their Aptio bios which is used in this motherboard.
You haven't mentioned it, but I am sure you have tried removing the battery to reset the cmos.
This motherboard does have a jumper to enter recovery mode, but it seems they forgot to mention it in Appendix C with the recovery instructions. The jumper for recovery mode is JPME1. See page 2-30 in the user manual for description and location. It seems to be used for recovery of the Management...
