hey again, ive been having problems with my Q9400, at idle cores 0 and 2 report that they are at about ~70C and the other two at around ~30C. I have tried replacing the TIM with AS Ceramique applied per their recommendations. has anyone seen anything like this before?

i checked all that multiple times, i put a Q6600 in, with the exact same configuration and i dont get the same problem, all cores are within 5 degreesComment

Did you mess with the IHS (that metal plate on top of the chip?) - that should keep the cores around the same temperature... Otherwise no clue, other than perhaps failure of the connecting compound on the IHS.
If the CPU is working fine with a proper and properly attached heatsink, I'd just leave it... leave sleeping dogs lie...Comment

Did you check the actual HS temps? If they were that high, you'd know it from the heat output. Not to mention the cores should be at a similar temp... they are on one die after all. Small differences are expected (hence multiple sensors)... but that large of a difference wouldn't hold for long (the temps should equalize over time if the load is constant)sigpic

I have a Q8400, core 0 idles at 107F, core1 at 130F, core 2 at 118F, and core 3 at 118F. I've got a Noctua NP-12 on it I think. With the stock, the highest was about 140F at idle. That rig puts out a lot of heat, keeps the room warm when it's running. The one I'm using now idles at about 95F. All cores are within 5F of each other. It doesn't help with heating the room as well as the old one.sigpicThe Sky Is Falling

I guess I got somewhat lucky, my C2Q is a Q9550S but it doesn't get that warm at all. I do recall my Q6600 which did generate a bit more heat, but not excessively...
However I do notice that some cores sometimes does get warmer than others - but the Linux scheduler tends to swap cores every once in a while and temperatures balance out (along with the IHS). But with a properly working heatsink/fan I don't see how you can really get 70C temperatures when idle (and it would be difficult to crack the IHS glue to behave like this)... perhaps there's some virus code running that's being disguised as idle? Do multiple OS's show the same behavior?Comment

on this laptop hp g72 b52sf i have screen problems as you can see with the photo joined in attachments.
the used graphic card is "intel hd graphics" and the id of the integrated screen is : "monitor/SEC3354".
i verified the driver of the péripherals and they are ok. i verified the definition and settings of the graphic card and of the screen : definition 1600x900 and refreshment frequency :60hz. (they are the sames for the graphic card and the screen).
i don't understand the reasons of the white stripe at the bottom of the screen below the task... -

Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.
(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)
I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the... -
Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.
After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)
Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)
Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
