Here's a trip down memory lane...

Check out this old hard drive card... I remember when these were being advertised in magazines for quite a bit of money.

Anyone know who made the drive itself? It has a weird interface, looks like proprietary MFM/RLL or from some sort of laptop interface.

This one still works, too. I was thinking of putting it in an old Epson Equity 1+ that I've got laying around. Problem is I don't have a keyboard for it. It also has some weird custom cards in it for controlling something via a rackmount case full of optoisolators and stuff. Came out of a rack of equipment that housed the central clock and PA system for a school or something.

$895? I knew it was expensive but damn But I miss the good ol' days. Back then every upgrade was a speed rush. I'll never forget my first hard drive (43MB Seagate), my first Sound Blaster card, etc.

I had a couple of those hardcards, later versions. I picked them up used. I remember they were made by Quantum and they plugged into an ISA slot.
I used them with my 486 machines.

Those were the days....I still remember lining up outside CompUSA just to pick up a 2 GB Maxtor IDE for the incredibly low price of $200. I whopping 2GB! Man, I had an insane amount of storage!!
        ;D

        Other prices of old:
        2x Creative CDR drive: $249.
        8 MB SIMM: $35
368sx-16 PC, (my first computer) $900.

I have almost all the receipts from since I first started buying computer parts. I'll have to dig some up and post the prices... Though I remember paying $340 or so for an Athlon 1400 OEM cpu some time ago...

Compared to $15 I payed last summer for a Athlon XP 1700 T'bred (same 1.4 GHz).
            Wow!

              I love hard cards.
If you popped one into an IBM pc portable you would be the coolest person on the block.
I always loved how they were so thin.

I had (or maybe still have) a HardCard somewhere.. I don't think it was made by Quantum though, as the frame was bright blue in color, and i thought it had a 1.6" tall HDD mounted to it..

i still see those quantum/plus hardcards in use in industrial stuff.
i keep a few spares on hand as most are gone or have bit the dust.
these marked the beginning of user friendly pc hardware.

memory mod for amd radeon r7 260x
                        by kokodin
Hello, for almost a year i been trying to make something that seems impossible, or my testing software is lying to me and it works only i can't see that.
I been trying to mod a memory on radeon hd7790 or 260x from 2 to 4 gb, but it doesn't seems to be as simple as i first thought.
In theory 2 workstation graphic cards using the same graphical processor have 4gb of memory firepro w4300 has 4 256x32b layout and W5100 has 8x 128x16b layout all use gddr5 memory and internals of the bioses seems to be very similar so i was trying to wing it , but so far it seems either tserver can't show...

This Dell computer is a pain in the a** because of it only has one memory slot this computer only had 4 megabytes of memory and slower than shit I found a 8 megabyte memory module and it is better but still slow as shit the maximum is 32 megabytes of RAM but I was not able to find one I found some that are 16 megabytes but they are 1600/128000 type and I am not sure if this computer will work with this type of memory or not

Dose anyone knows where I can find a 32 megabytes memory module for this computer because the battery still works fairly well still I would like to use it on my...

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
                        by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...
