    Iomega Storcenter Pro 250d

Anyone have any experience with these or anything they can share as far as usage etc. They seem like nice little boxes sold as NAS devices but after closer inspection they seem to be a Full Mini PC.

After closer inspection and testing these are full PC's. They are socket 775, DDR2 (2 slots), 1 PCI-E x16 slot, 1 PCI-E x4 slot and 1 PCI slot. 4 sata ports, 4 3.5 Drive bays (1 internal and 3 external with 2 removable hotswap trays for 2 of the external bays). They have 4 USB ports, a ethernet port, a 15 pin VGA port (onboard video), and a serial port. I have loaded and tested one with Windows 7 Ult and it runs really nice with the 3GB of ram and the Celeron 3.2 it has installed.

        Xbox series x advise
        by Rickkap
        Hi

I was hoping someone could give me some advise. A friend dropped off an Xbox Series X for repair—normally not something I deal with, but I'm helping out as a favour.

Currently, the console powers on with a beep and then immediately powers off. On closer inspection, the HDMI port clearly needs replacing, and there's significant liquid damage/ missing components.

Before I go down the rabbit hole of sourcing a donor board and replacing damaged components, I wanted to ask: based on the area I've marked in the photo, do you think this could be what's causing...

Variac Transformers and switch mode power supplies.
        by angelos
        Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone in the forum can tell me how they use the variac transformer to check a switch mode power supply that they had just repaired.
I wanted to know how they adjust the votlage, do they start from zero and turn it up slowly or rather switch on that about 60V ac ( My country we use 220V ac) and hope for the best.
Also what sounds the PSU should make, what sounds wrong etc. Also if i have a scope what can i check for.
The reason why i am asking is i have a Sony LED TV PSU whose PFC circuit shorted out and upon closer inspection a...

Apple NVIDIA AGP GeForce 6800 GT Dual Link DVI+DVI outputs 603-6338 missing caps!
        by jpreza
        Hi everyone,

I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

        1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
        2x...

No Power - Only Beeps - Missing 5V Rail Near F7502
        by grimacelord
        Hello,

Working on a PS5 that came to me for no power. Console would not beep or power on when pressing the power button initially. Board model is EDM-010.

I began by taking the console apart and performing a visual inspection on the board. Everything looked fine. I then tested the various fuses across both sides of the board and found that F7001 and F003 were both blown. I then looked closer at F7001 and found that the right side of the fuse read short on my multi-meter, so I injected 1V and found that a capacitor near the F7502 was getting hot, so I removed it and the...

Macbook Pro A1706 no backlight and not booting up
        by Baspotv
So recently I got this macbook from a friend of mine. He went to the apple store after his mac did not boot up anymore and they told him that the mac has got a cpu issue. After that he asked me if I could take a look at it and so I did. I got the schematic and boardview from this forum so I started looking for an issue and the only thing I've found is that the capacitors on Page 10 (C1000, C1001,...) all are shorted to ground, so after that I soldered 2 wires to C10G0 and put 2V onto it. After closer Inspection under the Thermal cam the only thing that got hot was the CPU. I followed the path...
