    That liquid metal stuff does work good, or so I've read, but it is expensive, hard to apply, next to impossible to remove, is conductive, attacks aluminum and excess will run over the board like tiny balls of mercury. Makes you wanna run out and buy some...Don't it?

    Go to Arctic Silver's home page for application instructions. I like using one BB+ sized dot in the center of the heat spreader, then just set the sink down on it, this avoids trapped air.

    NOTE: AMD heat spreaders are generally flat. Intel heat spreaders are very slightly concave. Most heat sinks are dead flat or near it.
    Bottom line, Intel chips need slightly more TIM than AMD chips.

    The last HS I bought was a ThermalRight SI-128 and it's base was .0035" concave. So I lapped it. I have no idea if you're into DIY projects but if you are, there is a pdf on the left that needs reading. http://www.easypckits.com/

      I used to lap most heatsinks in the the Coppermine/Athlon era, when contact was critical. A figure-8 pattern on a flat piece of fine-grit emory with water will produce a very slightly convex surface, with closest contact near the center of the HS - which usually worked well with a small amount of AS3 TIM.

      I've also lapped Coppermine die to reduce the bulk thermal resistance - It worked well for an P3/800
      which was unstable prior to lapping. This has to be done extremely carefully to avoid broken and chipped die. Practice first on a dead CPU to gain confidence and understand the process. Usually, you can remove a few hundred microns of thickness safely.

        Problem

        This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

        I have peltir element glued to heatsink with something thick and sticky like putty... it cant be separate with force or heat without risk of breaking ceramic or damaged semiconductor layers due to force (eg if try twisted, pulled, lifted)... method that I am using is a single thread for needle (thin and firm thread of pure polyester that cant break with bare hands without glowes), and using it like a saw between heatsink and peltir. I holding a heatsink with knee against table. It slowly cut throug putty and release glued parts. It is slow proces, but preserve undamaged component and heatsink....

        Hey....

        Board as written in description was stuck at VGA LED. common Problem wit these type of bords.... tried all the "standard stuff" like resettin... reseatin.... found out the LED Controller MCU1 = IT8295FN-56A geting burning hot under the last PCI Slot.. now i desoldered it cause there were only 18 ohms at the caps arround.... another aorus x470 in working condition with similar part and nearly same layout had arround 280 ohms...

        my question is: why doesnt the board start know without this chip.... worked myself through the boardview but i can´t understand...

        I have seen many posts where the eMMC can be read via a SD card reader, however can the opposite be achieved?

        I have a Motherboard with a Kingston BGA153 ball socket, using HS400 bus mode, which is 8bit, as Micro SD is usually 1bit or 4bit mode, I accept that a loss of speed in read/write will occur, but I would sill like to convert.

        Theoretically speaking, Im thinking if I hard solder DAT0-3 from eMMC to SD Card Reader, this should force 4-bit mode, or only DAT0 to force 1-bit mode.

        Not to remove...

        Hello, Acer AN515-57-577G JDIMM1 socket does not work. GH51G LA-L181P, 2x DDR4 RAM, both good, both work well in JDIMM2, neither works in JDIMM1. The laptop displays BIOS, when the JDIMM2 socket is occupied, you can run Linux on USB, then everything seems to work ok, there is internet access and you can browse the contents of the 512 GB SSD in Windows, but starting Windows ends with an eternal spinning circle, maybe there are corrupted files. When the RAM is inserted into the JDIMM1 socket, the laptop starts but there is no image and the downloaded current does not change and the output is ~2.25A....
