    Corrupted NVRAM data stopped Windows 7 boot and BIOS access

    A few days ago, a client of mine had a computer which kept displaying a blue screen when booting into Windows 7, and the USB keyboard was not working.
    Since the motherboard had PS/2 ports, they worked, but I still could not get access to the BIOS.
    So I tried using the Clear CMOS jumper which fixed this problem (the USB keyboard worked after all) and after fixing up the BIOS settings, the system booted with no problem.

    This client said that a surge got in and only took out a surge protector connected to their computer - I think some noise got through the 5V standby supply and corrupted the NVRAM, which disabled the USB ports and access to the BIOS menus.
    My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

      did you check the caps in the PSU? If the caps are bad on the 5vSB it would let any noise by and result in bad output voltage too. which could cause the NVRAM to go corrupt.
      Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

          The system was built 6 months ago with a new power supply.

                  I own a Lenovo ideapad v310-15IKB with an i5 7th generation with only Intel graphics configuration.

                  Hello, the bios on my Lenovo TD350 ThinkServer got corrupted during a bios update, the bios restore function killed the Server.
                  I need to flash the bios inside the MX25L12835F SOP8, i have already desolder the chip and solder it into my SOP8 adapter and read it with a ROM programmer.
                  I use the innoextract 1.9 software to extract the bios file from the .exe file that i download from lenovo website, can you help me edit the Hex file (removing the Index part and resize the file)?
