Bios partially corrupted somehow and now warm boot doesn't work which is critical

    Hie.
I own a Lenovo ideapad v310-15IKB with an i5 7th generation with only Intel graphics configuration.
Now the heart of the problem is that I don't know when or how it happened but I suddenly started getting distortion in the graphics output on the LCD. This basically meant a black screen full of flickering multicolored short horizontal lines. This would happen 30-60 minutes after booting and using it normally.
I run Windows 10 20H build so I thought it was just a Windows update issue or graphics driver outdated issue.
I managed to run Windows troubleshooting and restarted in safe mode which seemed to make the problem disappear. Restarting in normal mode resulted in the same issue shortly after boot, mostly even before putting my password.
I decided to shut down the Intel graphics driver which seemed to work, but now I got an awkwardly looking graphics output but it's usable. At least, until I realized in place of the sudden distortion, the LCD just goes black after the same amount of time. As if in place of the distortion from the disabled drivers, the LCD just disconnects.
I immediately tried a Windows reset as my first instinct. Starnge enough after preparing the reset from Windows environment and going into restart to complete the reinstalling,, the PC just stuck with a black screen and a fan spinning at its highest rpm.

I did some further investigations including trying a bios settings reset and that's when I started to realize how serious this was. The PC after selecting save and exit in bios, would just hang with the screen black and the fans spinning at maximum. Identical to when restating it in windows. I installed a secondary OS, remix OS from the android-x86 project and it boots up fine with no graphics distortion problem but it doesn't restart there either. Same problem in bios, Windows and Android OS environments. However shutdown seems to work fine but just not restart option.

I immediately knew that if bios can't restart either then it's probably a corrupted bios issue. But now here is where the problem is, I got my bios update downloaded and ready. It executes in windows OK and prepares everything just like it's supposed to. And then, it has to restart for the capsule update. Which is where this bug kicks in and stops it from restating.
In essence I can't update any firmware related to bios nor can I reset the PC or boot a new copy of windows..
I never thought I'd learn the importance of the restart option I've taken for granted all along in such a cruel way.
Also, I tried to boot Linux to maybe utilize fwupdate software to try and create a storage bootable capsule update since the problem is that I can only start from cold boot and I need the bios update to initiate from a cold boot state like from USB etc.
But when I boot Linux, an OS I believed to overcome alot of hardware bugs and driver issues due to its open source community, I was welcomed with the same distorted screen from Windows had graphics driver right off the bat. The moment it loads from grub it's completely a mess of lines. It however works in compatibility mode but even I can tell it's long code of start-up check list has quite a number of detected bugs.

I don't know what else is wrong with the PC apart from the restarting issue but I can say that the hard drive has been running slow ever since the distortion started happening and it the fun is more noisy now even though it's not really hot.

I believe it's a bios issue of partial corruption and I would like to fix it if possible coz I can't afford a new motherboard option at the moment.

Note: I tried the official Lenovo support advice and other similar approach like resetting RTC and disconnecting the entire board and power drain etc. Nothing worked. Bios reset didn't really work either. And nothing seems amiss from the bios it's self only the restart bug.

I would like any help that includes getting dirty with the board it's self or getting it to flash the capsule update from USB etc. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome

I found this to be because the CPU was overheating causing the Artifact error. First you should clean the laptop, replace the thermal paste and then review the results.

Alright, let me try doing that and see what the result will be. Maybe reapply some thermal paste while I am at it.

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

        1) Error trying to enter the BIOS
--> [F2] won't let me enter the BIOS. To enter the BIOS, I had to create a shortcut and then type C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /fw /t 1 in the destination. This forced it to restart and enter the BIOS.
Once inside, I went to the BOOT menu, but, surprise, it wasn't there. I got the following message:

        BOOT PRIORITY ORDER (img-05)
        1- Windows Boot Manager
        2- SATA HDD
        3- NETWORK
        4- Debian

        2) Error trying to access the BOOT MENU

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...

Lenovo LOQ mdl 151RH8 bios Q: Can't get usb boot to list
        by Max029
I've searched and read Beginners guidelines and other sticky threads. This is just a simple bios question. If I may, I'm having trouble finding any help, including from lenovo tech support & forum, for how to get usb boot to list in boot options. I'm trying to run memtest86 so nothing as highfaluting as re-install, flash a bios, etc.

I've made usb boot enabled and secure boot is disabled. I can find no other option in bios ver LZCN34WW (the original bios). Would anyone here be familiar with LOQ or Legion bios versions & know what is going on?
