    Need monitor suggestions

I love my Dell E228WFPs which are 22" @ 1680x1050 but both are on their way out.

Looking to buy two or three new mointors.
A friend picked up a Dell S2440L at Best Buy I went to his house to help him install it... looked like shit.

I would prefer IPS but normal is fine too. 1920x1080 res would be preferred in size of 23" or more.

DVI is a plus but I guess HDMI would have to do (or VGA lol)

But then again it depends on your budget.

The Dells above are with IPS panel, good quality, responsiveness, pivot if needed etc

Why don't you FIX the two monitors if they're on the way out.. this is after all badcaps.net.. we can help if needed.

Agreed... Drool. I even fix crappy old 17" 1280x1024's or even worse, 15" 1024x768's (less often). Aside from a crappy LCD tv (2006 crap brand), I don't own any lcd's larger than 17"... aside from laptops and an imac G5, nothing widescreen either.

If they do get axed, I'll make an offer to buy them...

          Re: Need monitor suggestions

Make an offer on them. But mine are getting clusters of stuck pixels which I can get most out by running one of those stupid screen fixer programs and gently massaging but I don't want to deal with that. Besides, they are old!!! And they take about a minute to get to full brightness which is annoying.

Also have two Dell IN2020M I don't want. Barely used make an offer there too if you want.

Will look at suggestions above when I'm home.

Ah, I understand now. I was thinking more along the lines of inverter issues...

The other dell ones sound nice but after seeing the prices online, not in budget unless I really lowballed to the point of being comical. PM/Skype me an offer and I'll see.

                      Well, what IS your budget?

How can 200$ be over your budget... 200$ for a 23" ips monitor is a good deal.

                      Jump on this one then:

When you're doing dual monitors, it gets pricey fast. After doing my research, I'll stay with my "junk" 17" 1280x1024 VGA clunkers. Given my measly budget (shovenose tried to post it but since it was a PRIVATE offer, I deleted it), it just isn't happening... it would cost almost as much as I have spent/are spending on the tower (and I really got some steals). These days it seems the DVI LCD's are $$$ even used... so yeah, I'll suck the bottom of the tank, but if it's what you can do, you gotta do it.

My buddy Chris liked their monitor of this model so I ordered three.

I've included a pic of my old monitors. Just checked for bad/stuck pixels and found a couple on the left one and none on the right one. Will accept offers for one or both of course I will only sell them once my others have arrived as I can't be without monitors but anyway...

My current monitor (a Samsung BX2240) has three stuck pixels. It got two adjacent ones after just a few hours use. I tried one of those stuck pixel fixing tools, and then the 3rd one showed up a few inches to the right. Also has a small hairline scratch (not sure how it got there, though). I do really hate, though, that stuck pixels aren't covered by warranty. Even if it doesn't stop you using it, it is still a legitimate defect that is the manufacturer's fault.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

c_hegge: Check Samsung Australia's pages. The international page says any pixel stuck ON in the first 7 days or 7 dead pixels or more during its life is cause for warranty.

                                TFT-LCD/LED/PDP & Monitors

The dead pixel warranty applies when your TFT-LCD/LED/PDP & Monitors contains more than 7 dead pixels within the standard warranty period of your TFT-LCD Monitor which SAMSUNG will exchange the LCD panel/module, provided that the defective unit is returned to SAMSUNG complete with full accessories and original packaging.

Zero Bright Defect (ZBD) only applies when it occurs within 7 working days from purchased date, regardless of dot quantity, the defective LCD panel/module shall be replace by SAMSUNG.

Bright Dot Defect occurs when pixels are always lit or "ON". Black Dot Defect occurs when pixels are always dark or "OFF".
                                http://www.samsung.com/my/support/wa...Information.do

Their policy of 7 pixels is a bit strange, normally all manufacturers use ISO 13406-2 , either Class I or Class II and class II only allows for 4 pixels at 1920x1080.

                                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2
The standard lists four classes of devices, where a device of a specified class may contain a certain maximum number of defective pixels. Three distinct types of defective pixels are described:

type 1 = a hot pixel (always on, being colour white)
type 2 = a dead pixel (always off, meaning black)
type 3 = a stuck pixel (one or more sub-pixels (red, blue or green) are always on or always off)

The table below shows the maximum number of allowed defects (per type) per 1 million pixels.
Definition of Pixel Fault Classes – Maximum number of faults per million pixels
Class Type 1 Type 2 Type 3 Cluster with more than one type 1 or type 2 faults Cluster of type 3 faults
                                I 0 0 0 0 0
                                II 2 2 5 0 2
                                III 5 15 50 0 5
                                IV 50 150 500 5 50

In Europe there's 10 working days during which any customer can return a product ordered online without having to provide a reason.

The reasoning for this is that buyer may have problems estimating product color, height, actual quality from just online pictures and descriptions which may change at any time (and have little/no proof of change)

Yes, unfortunately people abuse it a bit, but retailers just raise the price to everything to counteract that and sell the returned stuff as "open box" with 10-30% discount and the same warranty. Some people will accept a couple of dead pixels for 15% off.

It's not mentioned at all on the Australian site. Also, the monitor was NOS, so they may not have honoured it anyway.

No dead pixels on the Samsung monitors.

Just need to wait for the two DVI/HDMI adapters from Amazon so I can actually use all 3 (using two, one HDMI and one VGA so the coloring is totally different which is annoying as hell)
