BS files installed on my PC

I run a one TB drive. I noticed it was only 84% free. I never save movies to my HD. Video news clips also get deleted right after I send them off to where they need to go. Jpegs from my camera are only on the system long enough for me to burn them to disk. The kind of junk I found installed on my PC had nothing to do with what I do. There were several toolbars, media plays, and other BS.exe files. After I uninstalled all the crap my HD went back up to 91% free. How does this crap sneak into my system? I'm always very careful about what I download and install.

A lot of software installs that crap by default. You have to choose the custom install option and only select the portion of the software you want.

Flash, Java, AOL, and HP printer software is the worst for that.

JP, You need to download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and install the free version and run a scan on everything on your pc. You might have been on websites when you were drunk and can not remember it. Look in your Internet History Logs to see where you been.

I could have been but I don't think so. I'm going to install that progie anyway. It used to be on here but it ended up uninstalled and I never reinstalled. I think I forgot to reinstall it when I had to do a system restore some time ago. A power failure killed my W7 startup files.

oh yeah. i forgot about that since the only crapware that gets installed with something else is the catalyst control center when you install the ATI video drivers on linux.. but with that all you gotta do is hide the references to the control center so im not sure why i chimed in in on this thread.
          sorry just ranting.

I have never used the ATI Control Pannel. I use just the MS driver for ATI or the ATI driver as a stand alone install. The ATI Control Pannel is a useless PIA and a pig.
