    Remote, on site printing

I would like to use an ipad to create invoices 'in the field', I've also got a STAR tsp600 thermal printer from my shop counter days, question is, how can I print an invoice/ sales receipt from my vehicle in remote locations? Any genius, preferably cheap and simple solutions? Thought about laptop and inverter etc but I need to print and be off, not wait forever for a boot up since I would be doing so some ten to a dozen times, minimum per day. I know someone out there has a solution, there is a market for this,
    Regards. P

    Something like this:

Might help acheive what you want - you will have to set up port forwarding in your home/office router to the IP of the print server (on port 661).

You also may want to set up a dynamic DNS for the home/office too if you have an IP address that changes often via DHCP to save you having to reset the IP for the IPP printing on the iPad every time it changes.

isn't that a text printer? You might be able to get away with making a new printer using the windows generic text driver, and then routing IP printing to the windows box. Question is, will IOS play nice with IP printing.

blame apple and the printer manufacturer for this one

as far as the laptop, why not just set it to sleep when closing the lid do you don't have to reboot it up every time. Mine takes 1 second to boot from a sleep state (there is a setting to have it hibernate after a number of hours of sleep, turn that off)

you could always get a windows tablet

If your iPad has WiFi then a WiFi printer and inverter in your vehicle would be the fastest and one of the best options to use. Another option to try might be a printer with a card reader?

but he needs a receipt printer

I'd say get a cheap laptop and car inverter, unless you already have the ipad

He said he wanted to use a iPad so my guess is he has one. For $75 he can go the Inverter and WiFI All in One Printer and do everything plus more from any vehicle.
