What I'm really asking:
Is there a way to force charge or jump start a lithium ion battery?
The battery is
as07a31
made by sanyo.
Long story:
I have a acer 4520, the DC jack was broken and was run on the battery til it was dead. The woman didn't have a critical need for it because she got a Mac Book. She gave it to me to repair, but I never got around to it and she never asked about it.
You see where this is going don't you?
1 year later, the mac book died, and no money to give to those con artist at the mac store to fix it. I figured I do the nice thing and repair the acer for cheap. Turn out the jack was expensive to get. 2$ jack 15$ for S+H. I looked around, found some for cheaper but the sites were questionable. I tried to remove the old one but I needed a higher wattage iron because my heat was quickly disperse over the pcb and components and was not melting the solder. I worked on it for awhile then gave up.
Then I decided to look for the actual assembly and found the whole powerboard for 25$ + 7 for S+H on amazon. I figured by the time I get a hotter iron and pull the jack and place the new one and the uncertainty of heat damage and I might end up buying it anyway, seem cheaper to get the board.
So I ordered it. Got it today, installed, LAPTOP NOW WALKS AMONG THE LIVING!
Everything is working....
except the battery.
It seems to have a small charge for about 1 minute and then goes dead, then you plug it in and it charges for 1 minute then the light goes out. I don't remember if the light changes to green if it's fully charge or not.
I figure the battery is good it's just got that memory effect from not being charged for so long.
Therefore I want to exhaust my options before I order a new battery.
