    Screen resolution problem...

    I have a problem achieveing 1280x1024 resolution on my Jukebox PC. It's running off a VIA C3 1.33GHz EPIA board right now, using the built in S3 graphics card. Basically it's blurry at 1280x1024... words couldn't really explain this, so I made a video.

    Tell me what you guys think the problem and solution is? I'd love to get out of 1024x768 soon!

      It's most likely interference sucked up by the cheap vga cable you're using.

      You need a cable with ferrite cores at both ends and ideally a thick one where all data pairs are twisted.

      This is bad:


      No ferrite beads, no shielding, cable probably doesn't even contain all the wires (though not all are used anyway)

      This is good:




      This is somewhere in between - has ferrite on both ends but the cable between is not that well shielded ... should be enough to get a clear picture though:

          My cable looks like the second one. Ferrite cores at both ends. I've used this cable with this monitor on other PCs before with no problems at all. Should I go buy a new cable anyway?

              I've just taken the ITX PC out and plugged it into a Sony SDM-HS73 monitor in my living room, same problem at 1284x1024 60Hz... err...?

                  Oh.. in that case I don't really know what to say... usually the blurring is caused by bad quality signal from the video card, that's caused by interferences.

                  I'd suggest plugging a PCI video card on the board it and see how that works... but i'm not sure if you have the luxury of having a regular pci slot.
                  otherwise maybe you could get by with a usb to vga adapter - as long as the image sent to the screen doesn't change much, it shouldn't use a lot of cpu

                      Did VIA just create such a shit product? If it can't even come out properly at 1280x1024, then I don't know what to say. Should I just go and get a new Atom based board instead? :P

                          Definitely not, unless Atom is good enough for your needs (for jukebox it would be). If you want overall good choice, you should go out and get one of those AMD with embedded processors... E350 I think it's called.

                          Much better than atom, has DVI out , VGA out, embedded video card is fast enough to play HD videos, ddr3 memory is super cheap...

                              The hardware should not have any trouble with this. First, try a different video cable, DVI if the computer has a DVI port.

                              After changing to 1280x1024, do an auto-adjust on the monitor (the "-" button). Some monitors can't get the right settings automatically. On that monitor, the Clock and Clock Phase settings under the Image Control menu might help.

                                  Doesn't have a DVI port, as much as I would have loved it! I've tried auto adjust many times, doesn't change anything at all.

                                      I have an HP model : 14-cf0011nf and I want to change its display screen (it has an original 14" full HD TN 30 pins panel) which works without problem but I want to put another screen with an IPS panel, the problem is that I tried several screens but there is no display except with the original screen, I never had this problem before I changed hundreds without problems but this PC is not 'accepted than its original screen
                                      otherwise on the motherboard it displays edp and I don't know, do the panels I tried only work with the LVDS protocol?
                                      If anyone has any information on the subject...

                                      I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

                                      Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                                      Hello again everyone,

                                      This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…

                                      I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried...

                                      I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                                      Hi, my dear friends., Maybe this might be a stupid question or something I missed or do not know. I have 2 MacBook Air A2681 (Indentical color & EMC #), both LCD screens broken. Before ordering the LCD Screens I confirmed both worked with their respective batteries & AC Adapters, & they did 100%. The LCD Screens came in today & I replaced LCD for the 1st A2681. (Removed Battery Terminal cable for both Laptops before installation of LCDs). Perfect Screen & Booted up fine. But it did not work with battery. I checked the battery connector & it was seated in well/perfectly....
