    Sound Jack Problems

My PC is and old Dell 4550 Dimension. Only one sound channel works out of the back of the PC. Thats ok since I think the female jack in back on the mobo is damaged. I've been using the female jack on the front under the little cover. Now this female Jack is getting dirty. The female headphone jack on my powered speakers is also acting up. What spray product would I use to clean these up? I'm a heavy smoker so thats the problem in a nut shell. I know that most any product that can clean this mess can also melt plastic. What should I use and where do I buy it?

That is a good idea but it still doesn't fix the problem at hand.

          deoxit.
          i use a lot of dp5 here.
do the rear ones too.a spritz in each hole and work a plug in them.the jacks have a through/bypass switch that gets fouled from dirt/smoke drawn through by airflow.

Just Deoxit them as KC said the stuff is pricey locally at Ratshack but it works. I've saved tons of jacks and noisy POTs with it.

Just spray a bit into the jack and rapidly insert and remove a cable to spread the compound and clean the contacts.

I honestly can't remember how I found out about the stuff I may have picked it up on a whim but I'm glad I did.

You may get away with using automotive connector contact cleaner but I wouldn't chance it I've always used Deoxit.

Thanx! I'll look for it at my local Rat Shack! We call it Chicken Shack here for some reason. I don't know why....

The last time I had a jack get all crackley and not want to work on one side I just stuck a q-tip into it and spun it around and pulled it out; worked great afterwards.

I have sound jack problems also. There are several Jack programs for Ubuntu, but I have never been able to get the sound to work. The Jack meters look cool, if I could ever get them to work.

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                      by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Weird clipping on Logitech Z-10 speakers
                      by dreamlayers
I bought used Logitech Z-10 computer speakers. They can act as a USB audio device or accept line input, and they have a headphone output jack. Some music didn't sound right, so I played a frequency sweep and heard other frequencies and beat frequencies between them and the sweep. I uploaded a spectrogram of a frequency sweep. From the very start, some but not all odd harmonics are visible, indicating symmetric distortion. Then at higher frequencies there are descending images of those harmonics, indicating non-linearity and constant higher frequency noise mixing with the harmonics. The image of...

                      by LEECH666
                      Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

LAPTOP HP 15-DY2059LA / i3-12gen has stability problems in vccpu coils, BUZZING SOUND. ¿Coil whine?
                      by valente222
Hello friends, I just received this equipment, it has a strange hum on the board. The computer works fine, outputs an image and starts Windows. But the problem is when charging the battery, a constant loop to charge. In short, it never charges the battery. When the charger is connected, the stability of the CPU is stressed and it seems that the coils make that electrical sound louder. This board is modern and I don't have a schematic. I have checked with a microscope and the pcb is completely new. Has anyone had this happen to them before? defect in driver ic?...

Dell Latitude E6230 - Problem with sound jack ? (De-solder)
                      by Acnologia
                      Hello to all!

Suddenly a E6230 jack failed, and the strange thing is this.
                      Let me explain.

I have swapped the sound jack with the closest that i can get. (4 pins on one side 3 pins on the other side)
The one that i used, you have to plug-in a headphone jack , to LISTEN from Speakers.
If i solder it , opposite direction , i mean the top down , and down up , then you have to plug it in , to listen from headphones,BUT no from speakers even if not connected.

I am sure that the sound jack that i have ordered and bought, it's not the...
