    Curious - clock going ahead

I've encountered curious and strange issue with HP Probook 8470p - the clock is constantly going ahead without any reason at all.
If I try to synchronize it, everything is fine, but after hour or two I notice that the clock is again 9-12 minutes ahead.
That's extremely weird. Logically, I checked the time zone and DST - everything is fine there.
That's only if the laptop was put in hibernation and then turned on again. If it was turned off and then on - everything is fine.
    Any suggestions?

Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
    1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

off and back on maybe sets time in synch and hibernation keeps same setting .
i guess its something to do with a crystal .

      swap out the 32.768MHz crystal.
i'v not seen one that bad, but none are really good enough to build a bomb
once you remove it, check the 2 caps are o.k. too

incidentally, in the 80's and 90's one of the 2 capacitors on the legs was variable so you could tune it with a frequency counter.

        clock radio / radio lifespan?
        by shelby5041
        hi
ive got a modern digital clock radio approx 15yrs old

my question is how long can a clock radio or a simple radio last ss farcas operating hours?

since elec components have limited hour lifecspan i would imagine the radio or clock radio would eventually fail.

the reason i ask is because i have my clock radio on radio function 24/7 for the past 7 years and its still working fine....i leave the radio on ..never turn off past 7years...thats approx 60000 hours

it uses very little power just a few watts i would imagine that may have something...

Schematic vs. Reality: Where Are the Resistors on My Sharp Clock Radio? Model FY-70CH
        by TinkerTron
        Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on a mid-70s Sharp Electronic Digital Clock Radio, Model FY-70CH. I found the service manual online, printed it out, and have been studying it for a while. My main reasons for tackling this are: (1) I want to learn electronics and figured I'd start with something I had on hand, and (2) I want to fix its issues. Right now, the radio sounds awful, has about 5V DC at the speaker terminals, and the alarm time setting doesn't work. But I'm not asking how to fix these problems.

Instead, here's what's been bugging me so far:
        The schematic...

        71R-H14BW6-T830, clock stops when shutdown
        by Fontana
        Hi!
Funny problem. I have a board, model 71r-h14bw6-t830, it's a shuttle board used commonly on a lot of cheap laptops/AIOs.
The clock (RTC) is not working when the machine is turned off. Doesn't matter if it is connected to dc power or not. When the PC is powered on, the clock works fine.
I tried replacing Y6 and Y7 (picture below), but it doesn't seem to be an oscillator problem.
I don't have the exact schematic for this board, but I'll provide one that is similar (a variation of the same board).

        Any suggestions?

no display on ps4 slim ddc i2c clock shorted
        by kjchatman
i replaced the hdmi port first with no luck then i noticed that it wouldn't do the two beeps for safe mode unless the televison wasn't connected to the console. Turns out that the ddc data bus has an issue. the clock signal is shorted to ground whenever the display is connected. Even if the console isn't plugged into the outlet. i'm not sure why the clock signal goes to ground. i removed the safety zener diode to rule that out as a culprit.

Lenovo X13-Yoga Gen 1: hibernation problems
        by rumpumpel1
I have a Lenovo X13-Yoga Gen 1 that has problems with hibernation mode. When the laptop goes to hibernation mode - either via the start menu or after a time-out - after a short period of activity where the power-on LED flashes, the power consumption should go down to almost 0 and the LED should go out. Most of the time, however, the power consumption indicates further CPU activity and the power LED remains on, but there is no image. Sometimes the CPU activity stops after a few minutes, sometimes not at all. If the laptop enters this state, it can only be brought back to life by a long press on...
