rugger: Good, look here for an example of what happens when you don't:

ZLQ is only current D10 4700/6.3 series, AFAIK. Though most 3300/6.3 will be also OK, like Chemi-Con KYB.

Already have the 3900/6.3's Panasonic FS. Will probably install them tonight when I get a chance.

Will see if this whole project is a bust or not

Seems like I have been successful. Power supply is now working again!

Changed all electrolyic capacitors except a 10uF Teapo hiding under a coil that was pretty much impossible to get out. Didn't feel like taking the coil out for a capacitor just to change a capacitor that is still good!

the usual method when re-capping a psu is to pull the heatsinks out with the semiconductors still mounted on them.
i do anyway - it helps brush out the dust.

Wow (I thought removing the semi-conductors and heatsinks was mainly only done by reviewers to better identify the different regulators)

That is far more work than just working around the heatsinks with a pair of pliers.

              I've done some basic measurements:

5V rail, measures about 5.1V with about 20mV ripple.
12V rail, measures dead 12V on the dot and I get about 40mV ripple.

              I'm pretty happy with that.

Re: Antec PSU - Panasonic FS capacitors

Ok, so I'll just recap all the capacitors I replaced:

                4 x 4700uF 10V - Replaced with Panasonic FS 3900uF 6.3V
2 x 3300uF 16V - Replaced with Panasonic FS 3000uF 16V (was a pain to fit as caps were bigger than original)
                2 x 1uF 50V - Replaced with Panasonic PW 1uF 50V
                1 x 220uF 16V - Replaced with Rubycon YXJ 220uF 16V
                2 x 1000uF 10V - Replaced with Rubycon ZLH 1000uF 10V
                1 x 470uF 25V - Replaced with Rubycon YXG 470uF 25V
                2 x 10uF 50V - Replaced with Rubycon YXF 10uF 50V
                1 x 47uF 35V - Replaced with Nichicon PS 47uF 35V
                1 x 22uF 50V - Replaced with Rubycon YXF 22uF 50V

Thanks for everyone who gave advice, pretty cool to see this PSU working well again.

Exactly, I never do that unless absolutely necessary, takes too much time…

Happy to report, after 3 years of decent use, this smartpower PSU is still working great.

It has the 5V ooomph to power any retro motherboard that passes my desk!

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
                      by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                      After all of...

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)

Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
                      power on.

                      Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
                      switching supply area).
                      (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
                      than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
                      I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.
                      3300 microF/6.3 V. x 4 replaced by 3300 microF/6.3 V. (KYOCERA...

Antec Smart Power SL300S capacitor replacement.
                      by CWEastwood
                      Hello,

I'm currentlly in the process of trying my first power supply repair (really my first soldering project) and have some questions with regard to which capacitors to replace the bad ones.

The power supply is an Antec Smart Power SL300S ATX12V 300 watt.

I have successfully desoldered every capacitor from the board without destroying anything (I think) and I am currently in the process of choosing which caps to order. This is where I'd like a little community wisdom.

Now the capacitors inside are mostly Fuhjyyus (a forum favorite) with 1...

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
                      by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

AA and AAA battery charger capacitors?
                      by slybunda
hey all, iv got my favourite battery charger here which iv had for many years probably 15 years now or maybe even more. it still works good but thought id open it up to clean the dust out of it, lots of dust inside but now its clean and noticed 4 capacitors inside it and wondered if i should replace them.
                      it has inside:
                      2 x 47uf 16v caps 105c branded as Su'scon (lol sounds sus to me)
                      2 x 470uf 16v LZ105c branded as G.Luxon

not heard of these brands are they any good?

iv attached photos of the charger and the board inside for an idea on the type of...
