    Couple Odd Brands

    KDC, R&C, and KYS?

Images attached. The logo on KDC looks like something out of an 80's techno music video I would've seen on MTV. R&C sounds like some generic local lawyer's office name. KYS sounds like an angry 13 year old getting mad at some random person over the internet.

These are in a relatively old Logitech system that functions perfectly. Other than it claimed to be 120W and the IC inside can maybe do 50W on a good day.

The KDC was on the main amplifier board, while the R&C's were scattered everywhere used in what looks like signal processing. Then there's the KYS which all of them are on the power supply, nowhere else.

    Anyone else seen these before?

    Popcorn.

      Re: Couple Odd Brands

As I have lately seen some aduio equipment, replace crap on sight, as well as in anything else you want to run reliably for a long time. Just finished one bass speaker where all but three caps (two bipolar and one GP on the input which only sees 100Hz ripple from transformer) were bad, it basically ceased to work.

Than I got this something-cambridge-whatever Creative beast and not only the costruction quality is terrible, but the caps used are PoS. Most of the 100/200V caps are so terribly bad, one even corroded and fell of upon touching. And this crap cost like 500+ bucks new. This will be a long term project as - if the SMPS has not been killed by the caps rather than just being unable to work with them anymore - I have to most likely replace every single cap and clean huge amounts of chloroprene glue. The idiots basically used half a kilo of that and glued all the boards to the backside with like 3mm layer of that stuff. It is poured over the whole width of some of the boards where it of course already degraded and become conductive. You can guess what it does to audio equippment where only microamps of currents can ruing your day, interfering with the signal.

Yeah your logo looks similar to mine (same font?).

I searched everything I could think of.

I think the logo is CA or CIA. The cap vent is in equal 3rds. Its a new power supply and the caps are okay, but I wanted to know if they are crap, as we've had problems with these power supplies in the past.

                CIA, that's crap for sure

Generaly if it's not proven good brand you can take it as a crap without doubts.

Checked the site, they don't seem to make electrolytic caps so I'm gonna say it's likely not them.

I got them to see what random brands i would get out of it.

And sometimes i get weird brands with funny names.

And sometimes i get familiar names like Cheng/ChengX Samxon, Capxon, GL[Gold Link if i remember correctly], Jamicon, and others.

Are there good brands for 'run capacitors' or 'start capacitors' that are used on electric motors or heat pump compressors? ... r are the good capacitor brands for electronics (power supplies, laptops, motherboards, etc.) also the good brands for run capacitors?
Yeah I know this might be a novice question, but I just wanted to be sure. I did do a search on the forum but did not see this question asked before.

                              by SolomonMan
                              All,
I have 4 laptops all the same HP Elitebook model. These are now close to 8-10 years old now but they all were high end software development machines (ie 16GB ram (32 max) and all now have been upgraded to 1TB SSD). They are used throughout my house (family).

I recently bought a Software Defined Radio setup (SDR) and I will use it with one of the laptops but the batteries appear to be all dead.

The replacements seem reasonable at the sub $30 range (some as low as $20 shipped).

So I am thinking of replacing them all.

                              So the question...

                              Hello Forum team

Have this TV; searched for the model and could not anything so thought I would share in here

Had an issue, some years ago, and looks like some placed sticky tape over some of the lines on the FFC cables between the T con and the mainboard
Anyway, the owner, who gave me the TV, says it starts to blink after a few hours

So I removed the covers, and could not see anything visibly
Removed the power supply and thought some of the solder joints, on the hot side, were not the best. I thought some looked like they were cracked.

                              by Nikolai Danylchyk
Hi folks. As the title says, I was doing a port replacement on a Lenovo Thinkpad T480s and in the process of post-solder cleaning, I somehow knocked off 2 or 3 diodes (i think they are diodes) near the main usb-c. I can't seem to find what kind of a diode is that. I know it's ultra tiny and just has a letter "G" on it. Would someone maybe have a proper schematic for the t480s model? I can only find the non-s one and it's quite different to the "s". Would love to figure out what component that is.
                              Thanks in advance!...

                              Hi,

Back after a long hiatus with some old power supplies that need repairing. I've recently picked up a couple of 386SX systems, two 486DX systems, a SiliconGraphics Indy and an iMac G3 that either have verified leaking capacitors in their power supplies, or are likely to in the near future. For the sake of simplicity, instead of tackling all at once, I'm starting with the 386's and one of the 486's.

The 386's power supplies are Seasonic SS4040A's, with caps that are visibly leaking, and 9 replacement caps per unit are required. Most appear to be from the Rubycon...
