    Finding replacements for Su'scon caps

    This is for an lcd monitor that won't power on. At least 3 Su'scon caps have gone bad and I plan on replacing them all.

    Su'scon 1000uF, 16V, 10x20mm, SG Series (R.C.=1820)
    Su'scon 470uF, 35V, 10x20mm, SG Series (R.C.=1820)
    Su'scon 33uF, 50V, 6x11mm, SG Series (R.C.= ?)
    Su'scon .22uF, 50V, 5x11mm, SK Series (R.C.=11 ?)

    This is what I planned on replacing the Su'scons with:
    1000uF -> Nichicon UDH Series - UHD1C102MPD (R.C.=1820)
    470uF -> Nichicon UHD Series - UHD1V471MPD (R.C.=1820)
    33uF -> Nichicon UPW Series - UPW1H330MED (R.C.=300)
    .22uF -> Nichicon UVZ Series - UVZ1HR22MDD (R.C.=4.3)

    The problem I have is that I'm not sure on the ripple for the Su'scon 33uf and .22uF so I don't know if what I listed above is a good match. The Su'scon SG data sheet doesn't list the 33uF/50V and in SK data sheet the .22uF/50V is grouped as: .1-.47uF ripple=11.

      Any concern about the ripple current on the Nichicon 33uF and .22uF perhaps not being up to spec? I'm not sure if that's the case since like I mentioned before I can find the full specs on those 2 Su'scons.

        33uf is probably about 260ma
        the 0.22 is 11ma, i would replace it with a film cap like a polypropylene

            Really, why you care?
            The truth is that even a brand new Sus'son doesn't match spec, they've declared.
            It was a long time ago where I tried to replace one cap on a mobo with Sus'con. The result was instant blue screens after this replacement. I bought the yellow series of the Hitano - there were no problems at all.
            So, everything is better than Sus'con and Capxon. Doesn't matter what you will put on their place, it would be 100% better.
            Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
            1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

              Hi Mildew, I actually have a nearly similiar power supply board, and I was in a hurry and took out the 4 broken caps already without writing their values, thus don't know the capacitor mapping which one is which

              It's the two 1000uF/16v and two 470UF 35v.

              May I ask if you can let me know the capacitor mappings?

              C203 C204
              C206 C212

              Which one is which?

              Appreciate your help!

                I have the same problem as you guys. My LCD didn't light up. I replaced the 5 su'scon 1000mf 16V caps with 16V 1000mf Chongx VENT. My monitor went up but after 2 seconds, caps exploded. Can someone help me. Probably related to the ripple current. The other one were a little bit smaller as well.

                  Re: Finding replacements for Su'scon caps

                  if they exploded leaving guts everywhere, then you put them in backwards
                  if they simply popped and smoked, you used bad capacitors that were lies at their quality. ChongX is of dubious quality if not simply bad.
                  Get quality capacitors and you'll be fine.

                    if the cap exploded you probably put it in backwards

                      Capacitor Diarrhea - Nichicon PL Series
                      by DrewPhillips
                      Hello All, I have on the bench a couple of PSU's which have some failed Nichicon PL series caps. They didn't "puke" their guts through the top, but instead "diarrhea'ed" corrosive brown electrolyte through the bottom, down the legs and onto the board. On one cap, the electrolyte rotted the cap right off the board leaving 2 little stubs, and also corroded a trace on the foil side.

                      The PSU's are Power-One MAP series and are ringing-choke topology. The semiconductors have date codes in 1993. The PSU's were used in a commercial application, fan-cooled. They had failed...

                      Mid/late 80's Nichicon Yellow Caps
                      by nick3092
                      I recently acquired a set of Bose Roomate speakers from the mid to late 80's. Basically the right speaker cabinet is completely passive, and the left one has the power transformer and amplifier circuit in it. Out of curiosity, I opened it up to see what the circuit looked like. Looks like they used all Nichicon VX (2x 4700uF/16v for smoothing off the bridge rectifier), a couple random Nichicon SE series sprinkled on the board, and what really caught my eye - 2 yellow sleeved Nichicon caps (both 1uF/50v with no real series marking. Below are pictures of the caps. The only thing not shown in these...

                      Mystery Nichicon 22uf 25v Caps
                      by SwedishDiesel
                      Howdy folks,

                      The GX260 strikes again, I just now noticed that a bunch of smaller caps on the motherboard are bad.

                      There's no indication of what series these are, but they have the same color wrap as the HM series. They're rated at 22uf and 25v and about 5mm x 6.5mm. The only other markings are the temperature rating (105 degrees Celsius) and what I assume is a date code - A236. The data sheet for the HM series doesn't include caps with these ratings. I've attached some images of the caps themselves and where they are/were on the motherboard.

                      Does anyone...

                      Seeking replacement for EOL Nichicon PLV1J220MCL1TD. Found APAQ and ELITE (CHINSAN)
                      by DaveHarry
                      Hi group,

                      I am looking for a replacement for Nichicon PLV1J220MCL1TD (22uF, 63V, Conductive Poymer Aluminum Solid Electrolytic, 8x9 but we can go up to 8x11).

                      While searching, I found some APAQ and ELITE replacements that would fit on our products (APAQ ARHA series and ELITE UGT and UPD series).

                      How good are these brand/series and what other alternative would you recommend? I've searched the big name already and didn't find an equivalent.

                      Thanks!

                      Replacements for Nichicon PR and PL in PSU
                      by Y. Signal
                      Hello, I have read the recommendation to use PS and PM respectively, but they are hardly available from here at decent prices.

                      I've recapped this PSU with the following capacitors and I'd like to know if it will be ok. The reason I ask after recapping is that I've just realised that Nichicon PS 1000uF 16V is available at farnell for ~0.8€, so if you recommend me to change some more capacitors I'll get them in my next order.

                      I indicate PS and PM (instead of PR and PL since I can't find this data) rated ripple current in mArms and impedance at 20ºC...
