    Replacing 3300uF with 2200uF ?

    Guys,

Can I replace 3300uF Caps on my mobo with 2200uF ?
    Thanks

No. Always use the same VLESR type if not polymers.

      ok, how about 4700uF ? I can't find 3300 in my box...

caps have a ±20% tolerance so the caps u replace must be within a ±20% range of the original value or else it could likely cause problems with the circuit.

If it's just a DC output filter then I would personally go for the 4700uF...

That may be OK if the new caps have much lower ESR/higher ripple current. So for example replacing something similar to Rubycon MBZ with MFZ/MCZ.

I seriously doubt those 4700uF caps are ultra-low ESR in the first place. I only know old low-ESR caps used in the PIII-early Athlon XP era. Those were the best at that time so they put it into VRM. Today they are only in the low-ESR range. Better list what you got there and what motherboard it is.

I was thinking, making a cable and connect it to the board, because I don't have the exact size...but in the other hand it looks ugly and will affect the performance because of the wire....
I bought the right capacitor already, I'm waiting it's being sent now..

                        Re: Replacing 3300uF with 2200uF ?

And we do NOT talk about the series, voltage and capacitance.

Those values are, sometimes, utterly unimportant, what's really important are the other values of the cap!
And there are things like ESR, the ripple current the cap can endure and some other things like lifetime and so on.
So if you would replace a low ESR 3300uF cap with a general purpose 4700uF cap, the cap may pop pretty quickly and other bad things may happen.

So please state the name and the series of the caps!

And sometimes in a CPU VRM, it can be better to replace the caps with 470uF or something like that - but not wet electroyltic caps but polymer caps instead...

                          Replacing capacitors in Evga PSU
                          by competition
I have Evga G2 1300w and I want to replace all the electrolytic capacitors because PSU is already 12+ years old and I want to give it more life before any capacitor does damage. There are no blown capacitors, but I want to protect myself by replacing them with new ones as a precaution. And now comes the main problem. I have 5 pieces of Bulk (I think they are KZE) 16v3300uf with dimensions 10/35/5, but I can't find them in that size, only 12.5/35/5.I have one KY 16v1000uf 8.5/19/3.5, one KY 16v220uf I think it is 6/13/3.5 but it is in holes of pitch 5 I have 4 pieces of KZE 16v2200uf with dimensions...

                          Picking caps for Antec SU-380
                          by ajdrenter
In my search for a proper 5v heavy ATX power supply, I selected an old Antec SU-380 that I've had in storage for a long time. Opening the power supply reveals a couple bulged capacitors. I removed all the caps and made a map for myself. I found the datasheet for the PCE TUR series in this thread:
                          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14159
It says these are general purpose, so I assume I can replace them with any general purpose capacitors, but I don't really know anything about power supply circuits or reading capacitor datasheets. Despite this, I've been shopping for replacements:...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                          by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

                          30V 3A Powersupply - regulating only to 8V
                          by worldofskin
Hey guys! i build a 30V 3A powersupply. My friend blown it... He connected cables to the wrong connectors. I changed the op amps, shorted zener diode and a 9014. Now the powersupply works again but only to 6V. When i measured the caps they looked in spec. But after i connected 2200uF cap on the main power rail parallel to the C1 - 3300uf one - output voltage is now regulatable to 8v. Any idea where to look ? or what to do ? R1 and R2 are getting hot. The input of the transformer is 40V after rectifiers. Its a 24V transformer on 230V mains voltage....

I found these, i would only like to try them on a board to see if it post. It don't post at the moment, i guess there are 9 6.3v 3300uf that can be broken. Is these low or high esr? I did not find info on the web.
