I have a 40 year old Pioneer SA-9500 with a couple of 18,000uF capacitors that I just replaced. The amplifier worked great with no issues with these capacitors, but they had a soot black coating on the bottom of the capacitor. These capacitors faced down, so this isn't from dust.
I just replaced anyway and wonder if anyone seen this discoloration before and if it's a good or bad sign?
