Bad capacitor? on PS board of Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC-50LE442U

I would really appreciate help identifying the bad capacitor. The TV has had a problem not wanting to power on after shutting off. Found that if you unplug TV for a while, then sometimes it would power on. Eventually we just left TV on all the time for the past 2 weeks (screen saver would kick in) and there was no problem, till my wife accidentally shut it off. Now it refuses to come on. Only the green power LED comes on, nothing else happens and you have to unplug it to get the green LED to shut off.

Did some investigating and found a YouTube video discussing this exact same problem (same symptoms at least) on a Sharp Aquos LCD TV, and they showed the faulty capacitor that helps do a slow start power up. Well the model on the video was different and the power supply board on my TV looks totally different.

I am attaching a photo of my power supply board and hope someone can identify which might be the faulty capacitor (if that is the cause).

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well ive found the small electrolitic capacitors on the primary side go low in value on some power supplys, you have 4 of them with black gloop holding them onto the pcb.
I would replace the one to the left and right of the top heatsink plate first, if you think its a startup capacitor.
Any capacitor near a heatsink tends to get cooked :-(

I have the same model and same problem.
I was not able to tell which one is bad as all of them look OK through visual inspection.
can you please let me know which capacitors did you replace to fix yours?

          Try those 4 caps first.
Bad caps can look normal, you need cap meter that can measure capacitance and the ESR.

Bad Barrier Rectifier on PS board of Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC-50LE442U

Related to the Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC-50LE442U... The TV in this case was DEAD no blinking lights and no response from the remote. All systems appeared dark.

The repair was accomplished by replacing the DM102 component. (MBRF20150CT) This sells on eBay as a Barrier Rectifier...

How do you tell if its the start up caps that's acting up? As I have a similar issue with a monitor I'm working on (Newbie/Hobby) thats 50/50 chance to power on when you plug it in.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                  by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hello esteemed gentlemen. I have owned this LCD TV since 2012. The only repair was the replacement of the PSU a few years ago. Apart from that, no issues. Recently, all was working fine until I switched on to see it appear as so. The day before it was working fine. There is sound. Could this be a T-Con board issue? If not, what could it be? Thank you.

                  by Hakuu
                  Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
