Replacement for Rubycon MBZ/Nichion HM caps

As the title states, I'm looking for a suitable replacement for 1500uF 16V caps (10x20 mm). None of the above are available from Farnell so I'm looking for a replacement.

Rubycon ZLJ looks okay ripple wise but may have too high impedance, not sure.

The best I could find is Panasonic FM but the cap has a bigger diameter so it doesn't fit.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Cheers guys

There are no replacements in production at all. Badcaps.net still has some which would be suitable, as he prchased a massive bulk lot just before production ended - https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=38

The Rubycon MCZ series actually have superior electrical specifications to Nichicon HM, but they will work fine.

If you are installing them on a Motherboard, then you could also poly-mod it with 470uF or higher 16V polymer capacitors. I've done that plenty of times and it usually works fine. The luch lower ESR of the polymer caps generally means that the same level of filtering can be achieved with a lower capacitance.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Thanks for the tip regarding poly-mod. I think I'm gonna try this with Nichion LF 470uF 16V caps. They're the cheapest I could find and I only need four. 3300uF caps on this board are Panasonic FJ and should still be good so I'll leave them in place.

Yes. If you have four caps on the VRM high side, then 470uF polymer caps should work just fine. I've done it a few times. Panny FJ are generally a very reliable series of capacitor, and they should be fine.
