I've got a recently deceased Creative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 speaker system. There's a G-Luxon 4700uF, 25V , GR85°C 309C(M) leaking a nasty green goo onto the board (P/N: PBMS0420A0210). What would you recommend as a replacement? Thanks.

Re: 4700uF 25V replacement advice, please
Well almost anything is going to be betterso I would use this
http://cpc.farnell.com/panasonic/eeu...25v/dp/CA05160
Providing it fits the available space.
Are there any more of the same type - if one has gone others are likely to follow.
You need be meticulous about cleaning the board and maybe even have to change the wire links if they are corroded. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

What piece of electronic item is this and what symptoms are you observing for you to deduce there is afault in the power supply section???Comment

Re: 4700uF 25V replacement advice, please
Like stj says, the capacitor is probably OK.]
What you see there is a bit of white/cream glue that was used to keep the capacitor on the board before the board went through the machine that soldered everything on the bottom (wave soldering).
Some glues have a bad chemical formula, in time they "dry" out and turn dark brown and can become conductive, which is not good. In your case, this is probaby happened, and the glue as it became somewhat conductive and either became black from current going through it and heating it up or just from general heat around that area (from the rectifier for example).
You should desolder the large capacitor and use a blade or a chisel to scrape off that glue and make sure nothing is shorted by the glue and then if the capacitor looks to be in good condition, reconnect it in circuit.
If you want to replace it, you can pretty much replace it with any capacitor of reasonable quality. It filters the AC voltage at 120Hz so it doesn't have to be a very low esr capacitor, doesn't have to be something expensive. You can also get something with higher rating, for example 35v or 50v and you can also go a bit higher in capacitance if that's all they have at a store near you.Comment

Re: 4700uF 25V replacement advice, please
Thanks for the explanation, mariushm. I looked through the other photos on badcaps.net and it didn't look like the normal corrosive mess you get from leaking electrolyte. Other than the glue goo, the capacitor looks OK, and so do all the other ones on the board. I'll clean it up as you suggest and report back.Comment

Re: 4700uF 25V replacement advice, please
And that's all it needed. Having cleaned up the board and capacitor, the speaker system is now working again. Perhaps I'll start a forum called "badglue.net"! Thanks for your help.Comment

by rustinjustI have a technika tv, 32 inch, around 10 years or so in age and last night when watching tv i heard a hissing sound and the next thing i saw smoke coming out the back of the tv, i instantly unplugged the tv. I took the back off tv to expose power board, then plugged in tv and saw smoke coming out of a capacitor, i will try and attach a photo below, see below for attachments of board and cap, and keep reading, maybe you can advise ?
The cap says on it: 105kj450mff4. This doesn't mean a lot to me as i'm an amateur when it comes to electronics, though i've undertaken some repairs such... -
by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -
by tom8352Hi there
I have a Winmate DD24-AX DC-DC power supply with a few bulging KZG caps I'd like to replace. I am having trouble sourcing these caps.
KZG 1000uF 10V
KZG 1000uF 16V
Can anyone suggest some suitable replacements which are not too costly?
Photos attached,
Thanks in advance,...-

by the_remHello guys,
I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.
I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow... -
by Uy181So I have a couple motherboards I am recapping that I do not have capacitor replacements already in my used inventory. I am wondering which capacitors that are currently in production for 2022 that I can use to replace the following capacitors:
"SAM YOUNG" NXC series 6.3v 3300uf
"Nichicon" HM series 6.3v 1000uf
"Nichicon" HM series 6.3v 3300uf
"United Chemi-Con" KZG series 6.3v 820uf
"TK" ATWY series 6.3v 820uf
Thanks!-
