    Lower voltage cap on PSU?

I think I know my answer but I thought I would ask just to make sure. I have a Samsung LN-S3241D LCD TV. I want to replace all the Capxon capacitors. I have all the caps to replace them but the missing one. The one on the board is small and it's 68uf 63v. I have 2 lying around that I would like an opinion on. I have a 68uf 25v which is larger than the one on the board. I also have a 68uf 75v one too but it's pretty big and I don't know if it will fit. I'm assuming the 25v one has too low of a voltage rating correct?

    Edit: They are both 105C

25V is probably too low, 50V might even be too low. you'd need to measure the voltage going across that cap while in operation. If I was you, I'd use the 75V cap as long as it doesn't go too tall to clear the case, and the increased ESR shouldn't matter

I thought so too. I think I should have room but I'll have to check. I probably don't need to replace it but this is the second Samsung I've had that had faulty Capxon caps. One is bulged on this board and another is squealing.

Oh, CapXon, that explains it. They should all be replaced if you don't want to be doing this again.

I found a 105C 68uf 63v Nichicon cap on a board that I wasn't using. It's the right size so all the Capxon's will be gone.

Perfect! What series is the nichicon cap?

It says PW(M). That make sense?

I ordered the rest from Simoncapacitor on Ebay. He gave me a kit for my Samsung computer monitor and its been working great ever since, so I'm sure it will be good in the tv psu.

Electronics failing when supplied with lower voltage

                    Hello guys,
recently I watched Richard's video on YT (Learn Electronics Repair channel) with an explanation why lower input voltage than rated can also kill electronics components.
The vide can be shown here.

Now, I would like to learn more and I'm not sure that I understood exactly why this is happening.
It is clear to me that PWM chip will keep MOSFTES switched On longer (duty cycle is longer) and that they will dissipate more heat. I think this is not the main reason because MOSFET can probably work switched on for a long time. It is also possible that output...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.
PP3v3_G3H_RTC: Normal voltage is ~3.3v. Produced...

Lenovo L490 Ram voltage circuit malfunction
                    by rddube
                    Hello friends,

Looking for some guidance here. The RAM voltage circuit on this motherboard keeps burning out PU301 which is a RT8231AGQW. Copy of the board with the burnt chip attached with some voltage measurements and copy of the schematics also included.

I think I've checked almost every component in the circuit, but when I change the RT8231, the laptop starts I have 1.2V on the inductor for about 10 seconds and then the RT8231 goes south and no more voltage on the inductor. All other voltages on the laptop are good, this is the only one conking out for a reason I...
