what did i get myself into?

first off - i'm new to this forum and pretty cherry with electronics in general. so i made the mistake of diagnosing a bad sustain board on our LG plasma (it was shorted to ground - so a pretty easy diagnosis), and my wife saw how simple it was to fix and told the whole neighborhood that i am some kind of tv repairman (i wish she would brag like that about my prowess in the bedroom)- anyway - the first tvs i got were from neighbors that always help us out and are dealing with chemo right now - so i really want to be able to come through for them. The problem is, i'm a steamfitter and don't know what i'm doing. I exercised all the valves and nothing happened. The tvs are both samsungs, both arent turning on- neither is in the class action list (one year too new) but i am guessing from all the reading that it's the caps issue. It seems like my voltages coming off the main board are correct, nothing is shorted out, and i'm comfortable replacing the caps on the boards to give it a try. My problem and question is - none of them look swollen, bursted or deformed- so am i to replace all of the caps? even the little tiny ones? the one board doesn't have too many, but the other has like 20 on it and most of the replacement cap kits i see look pretty universal and have like a dozen or so. Any general help or direction anyone could offer would be much appreciated...

Hi, and welcome! Kudos for trying to help out your neighbour!
I would start by starting a new thread in the TV repair section.
Some specific info, model number and some photos of the innards will help us help you.

I just did a quick photoshop for you:

      Love it!

You are about to enter into a fixation on fixin! It can be fun and you may make a few extra bux on the side! Just be careful and remember slow is the new fast. Take your time, post on this forum when you get stumped, and learn something along the way.

      Good Luck!
