Can someone identify this brand of Cap?

Hello,

I have just found this web site and forum. I have attached a photo, it's not the best (flash reflection on cap) but could someone help me identify the brand of Cap in the photo. It is the black one in the middle of the photo which has the logo that looks like a big C with Y inside the C and a ring around it. I have searched on the web but no luck so far. The photo is taken from a L&C ATX PSU.

i dont recall we ever identified those. they are usually in crappy psu. why do you want to know anyway?

Those brand of caps are on the secondary output of a L&C PSU and they are failing. I wanted to know the name of the company that makes the cap, so I could look up on the web (and here) to see if they are a "bad cap".

i don't know the actual brand of them. i oftenly found them on cheap psu.

i guess they are from the same manufacturer with this:



found also on L&C 380W PSU.


seems the one in your pic is 22uF, near the +5sb/powergood controller. i would have no hesitant to recap it, because that cap is important. \

well it could be 2.2uf too. you said they were failling, how did you know?

Yeah, I call them 'Saturn', because the logo looks like the planet Saturn. They're bad caps, probably slightly worse than Fuhjyyu on the secondary side, but they're OK on the primary side.

Thanks for the info everyone. The reason I know the caps are failing is due to them venting. All the caps on the outputs have vented except for -12v which would hardy be used. I understand that if they are failing they must be bad caps but even good caps would have to fail at some stage. In this cast though I would say that "Saturn caps" can be added to the list if they are not already.
