    Stumpped on a ViewSonic VP930b

I've repaired two VP930b already but this third one is giving me a doozy.
All three monitors have bad caps. I've replaced all caps except the big CapXon 100mF; 400V.
The third monitor remain no power.
The fuse is not blown but there is no output voltage on CON2 connector though.
The monitor works when I install the other repaired PSU.

I've double checked the solder and now I'm stumpped.

    Any inputs are appreciated.

    Thanks!

So by saying you don't have 400 volts you mean that you don't have any primary side B+ ???
    Is it plugged in?

Replaced capacitors- with what type? I see two Nichicons but can't tell what series. I can just make out the "1" of the 105 degree marking.

Those four blue caps look cheep 'n nasty- NTE are they? They look more like cheapo teapos... Is C7 on the primary side a Panasonic FC?

As for no primary B+, check the fuse, thermistor and rectifier. Also look for and repair bad solder on the AC inlet and filter chokes. Check the line switch for continuity. In theory, the DC voltage across that big cap will be the RMS line voltage * 1.414. Of course, regulation under load will make it drop a bit.

@Longbow - I do not know which point my meter would read 400V
@Kaboom - yep, NTE they are. Fresh out of 16v 1000mF so I had to run at Fry's. C7 is Nichicon. All are high temp caps.

The board is now fixed though. Followed Kaboom's advise of checking continuity and bad solder joints on other components.

3x magnifying glass is not cutting it anymore.

        Thank you all!

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
          by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

Mats / mods: detected and repaired GPU fault. Cant seem to test after!
          by chronic519
          Hello.

GPU came in, green lines. Spent lots of time using to get the Mats / mods drive working (found on youtube).
Found issue with a RAM block
          Replaced, green lines gone.
Trying to test again, assuming getting the false positive. Originally had over 1K on a single bank. Now getting tosses low between banks.
Used a good card to test and same results low errors 32+.

I am just search for some form of command to do a full test on the GPU.
I just ran the mats command with my good GPU and passed after roughly 40 min.
          The repaired one, ran...

          Hi, Badcaps.

          I am troubleshooting a monitor
          Viewsonic VX2718-PC-mhd.
          Panel model SG2701BSG2701-8
          Symptoms is no image.

This panel has 2 panel board connected by a U-ribbon.
When I disconnected the ribbon, I get a perfect half screen image.
I took some test point voltage, when ribbon disconnected.

A2338 M1 Not turning on - Repaired slightly but still having issues
          by Stephen
Repaired a customers computer, had a faulty APL 1097 chip and replaced, all well, not shorted anymore, however I am finally getting 12.28Volts on PPBUS_AON, however it stays at 12.28 and doesn't increase to the normal 12.60 Volts. I read that this is the cause
          • If the voltage is approximately 12.28-12.35V, it may indicate a communication issue between the SOC and PMICs, or corrupt firmware.
Can someone point to me what would be the next step to fix this. I can feel we are getting close to fixing this board, however this is a data recovery and we need to fix the computer to recover the data....

MacBook Pro 820-01987- condensation damage repaired but has sensor issue
          by gurj1979
          Hi guys.
Got a customer MBP 2020 which has a dad of corrosion from condensation, resulted in no power at all.
I replaced the corroded components and repaired the traces. Restored power and now Iccan get to login screen.

But when the CPU gets warm (not hot) and fan gradually starts spinning faster and then MBP turns off. Pressing power button turns it back on for couple of seconds then it turns off again.

Seems sensor related, but it won't even let me get as far as running the built-in ASD.

I can get back to you later with the components...
