by JunkrepairI'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.
I found this nice little description of the conversion:
Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633
It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...-

by CapLeakerI’ve got this Ancel BA-101 battery tester for a few years now and discovered an issue testing flooded car batteries. The damn thing reads always low compared to other battery testers. I mean low in the tune of 25 to 30%! AGM’s read comparable within margin of error. I wonder if all these have the same problem or mine is defective somehow?...

by waakyeHello fellow bad caps members,
I have a Dell XPS 13 9730 that a picked up today. The seller claimed that it stops working all of a sudden. The ammeter reads 5V, 0.11A.
Could some help me out.
Thanks. -
by abajorI was wondering if there is a knowledge base on troubleshooting HDD failures and when it might be viable to try certain repair/recovery techniques.
I recently got a WD20EARS 2TB Drive from a customer in hopes of retrieving data. The drive reads as zero size, I can't hear any head activity but it does appear the platter is spinning I can feel some gyroscopic action picking up the drive.
As a shot it the dark I bought a donor board and swapped the rom chip. Same issue zero byte drive.
I'm assuming that the armature is no longer functional internally so no data can...-
