    samwha cap question...

New here and kind of new at replacing caps. Have recapped my 2nd dell board will complete success but still not sure on all the cap terms.

    I have a bad cap:
    Samwha 2200uf 10v WL
I dont want to place an order for just 1 cap and happen to have a:
Rubycon 2200uf 10v ZL on hand.
My question is about the "WL" on the Samwha cap.
can the Rubycon cap replace this even though the Rubycon has an ZL value?
Both caps have the same dimensions.

Guess not really sure what the WL value means.
    Thanks for any help!

    Re: samwha cap question...

The Rubycon should work. The WL is the series of the capacitor made by Samwha.
If you check the datasheet on the Samwha WL series, you'll see that the ESR
of a 2200 uF 10 V capacitor is 50 mΩ and the maximum ripple current is 1400 mA.
The Rubycon ZL 2200 uF 10 V capacitor has a 21 mΩ ESR and a maximum ripple
current of 2360 mA. You can find the datasheet on the WL at

and the datasheet on the Rubycon ZL series at

Correct. - A ZL is an upgrade.
Want Ripple the same or more.
Want ESR the same or less.

For Samwha WL even just Panasonic FC would be an upgrade.
FC are common and usually inexpensive.

          Gotta start somewhere.
6 years ago I didn't know what ESR was.

            Picking caps for Antec SU-380
            by ajdrenter
In my search for a proper 5v heavy ATX power supply, I selected an old Antec SU-380 that I've had in storage for a long time. Opening the power supply reveals a couple bulged capacitors. I removed all the caps and made a map for myself. I found the datasheet for the PCE TUR series in this thread:
            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14159
It says these are general purpose, so I assume I can replace them with any general purpose capacitors, but I don't really know anything about power supply circuits or reading capacitor datasheets. Despite this, I've been shopping for replacements:...

            Genelec 8020C Bad capacitor
            by TomGJ
Hi All, So I have two Genelec 8020Cs that are about 10 years old, one of them stopped switching on. I took it apart, fuse was blown, and I've traced the short to one of the two large capacitors on the circuit board.

Now from looking at the Capacitors, they seem to be from Samwha's SD Series with the following specs: 3300uf, 35v, 85C, 25 x 16 mm Radial.

The problem is, I can't find any capacitor from Samwha's SD Datasheet that matches these specs. The closest is 3300uf, 35v, 85c but 31.5 x 16mm, with a max ripple current of 2.5A. I'm guessing the 25mm is custom made for...

            samwha? in Samsung...
            by eccerr0r
I have an old apfc psu in a Samsung TV using Samwha WL-series capacitors. By inspection they are obviously dead. Oddly enough the other caps in the TV seem okay. Samwha appears to be a dubious manufacturer but are they? Their WL datasheet seems like they did do something to rate the capacitors but nevertheless they failed first, spectacularly.

As a proof of concept fix I'm tempted to replace them (two parallel 82uF 450V low esr) with two *series* 470uF 230V general purpose capacitors...

Should last an hour at least to prove the rest of the TV works, no?

Infamous Rubycon MFZ... Current recommended replacements???
            by bjs59
What we have here today is an Intel DG33FB motherboard, circa 2007... I need to replace some of the caps on this board... From what I have found, one of these caps was sort of well known here back in the day as they were used in XBoxes and XBox 360s as well....They are the Rubycon MFZ series, in particular the 6.3 v 3300uf 10mm X 20mm... I have found a seller on Amazon, The Capacitor Store, that has them listed but I have a hard time believing these are genuine pieces... The original recommendation was to replace any bad ones with Nichicon HZ series since the Rubycon MFZ's were a custom product,...

            A1289 Mac Pro "Early 2009" PSU (ACBel FS8001-291H, 614-0455)
            by MeltedDuron
So a couple of days ago I picked up a 2009 8-core Mac Pro in "as seen" condition at a price that was too good to pass up, got it home, eventually managed to install OS X on it, and then it died while downloading updates. This machine looks like it was used for heavy video editing work as it still had a Blackmagic capture card and two GPU's installed, but I expect we'll see a lot more of these 2009 Mac Pro PSU's failing soon.

After it died, the machine made some clicking noises, like it was trying to fire a relay but something wasn't working right, so it kept randomly clicking...
