For those who swear by Teapo

I've had people tell me that they think Teapo caps are high-end because they don't bulge as most of the others do. Well, here's some evidence to the contrary. This is a VP6 that was "refurbished" by Abit via the class action lawsuit.

I've seen bulged Teapo too - but only one. They're not good but still better than GSC.

I hate Teapo, and their rebadged brands like Gluxon and Yaego they all suck ! I replace Teapo on site.

                        They may last.
                        Or they may not last.
Depending on the circuit, heat and what series you use...
Those green ones are usually SC or maybe SM. Not the best ones Teapo has in stock...

Especially since the specsheet says something about 3000h Lifetime at best...
                        So they are rather cheapish...
                        And they will fail sooner...

If you want better Teapo, you have to get a better series from them...

                        Buttom line:
Just don't flame a manufacturer, because they have so much different shit.
And always take a look at their product diagrams.

And the SC series is the worst series they have...

                          Hi folks,

I have a couple of IBM NetVista desktop computers from around 2000-2001. They have Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) Pro286i motherboards, 733MHz Pentium III processors, and a whole bunch of bad Teapo capacitors. One board has visibly bad and venting capacitors, while the other doesn't look too bad so far.

The board with venting caps works fine, while the good looking board occasionally refuses to power on unless it's left for about 30 seconds after connecting the power - even with a known good power supply. (I am however aware I'll need to check the PSU...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
                          by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Hipro D2537F3H - Teapo output capacitor replacemnt
                          by socketa
Thought that it would be worth rescuing this one, but it's got one bulged Teapo that is in front of the big coil.
Would it be perfectly OK to replace this 4700uf SC (which currently measures 600uf and 1.2ohm ESR) 5V output cap with XYJ 3300uf? More specifically, was the original 4700uf Teapo cap overkill?

i also (inline) tested the 3300uf SC (which is parallel with a 2200uf SC cap, that is right next to it) on the 12V rail, and get a measurement of 5500uf and around 0.1 ohms ESR - So those caps look like they are still healthy?

I pull a buch of (Teapo, Samxon, Ltec, Taicon, etc.) caps from older power supplies and they always check out very low ESR and capacitance in spec. Are chinese caps much better than they used to be?
