Re: Help with 2002 Ford Ranger blower motor
I believe the DPO (dreaded previous owner) hacked in a replacement blower motor. During the 'repair' they got the polarity wrong, burning out the resistor pack from too little/no airflow across the resistor.
The location of the resistor pack is in a bad location - in the engine compartment, down low. That is where all the dirt, salt, etc collects. The connectors are not protected at all. I had the resistor connector fail in '09 on my '04 Ranger. Having to pull the combined coolant and washer solvent tank assembly and cruise...

Re: Why does my truck have a microphone in it?
The only rust issues I've had were the muffler rotted out (on the top!). The other rust issue was the floor of the bed rotted out, caused by a heat insulator pad that soaked up road brine/salt over the winters. Another bright idea by an idiot Ford engineer.
Good luck finding another Ranger. They are getting harder to find as they were discontinued from 2012 to 2019. The 2019+ are completely different and considered a mid-size truck where the older ones are compact trucks.
I have completely rebuilt the...Last edited by delaware74b; 04-19-2022, 03:51 PM.

Re: Why does my truck have a microphone in it?
I am the owner (from new) of an '04 Ranger:
The microphone ties into an aftermarket stereo (if it still has the aftermarket stereo). It's used with bluetooth cell phones only.
I don't recognize that harness connector at the bottom of the dash. You will have to trace the harness.
The black shroud on the throttle body is stock. No speed control on your truck. You would have another cable going from there to a servo on the passenger side between firewall and coolant/washer solvent tanks....Last edited by delaware74b; 04-17-2022, 07:49 PM.

Re: Swapping out a NiMh for a LiPo?
Typical fire/building codes in US require 90 minutes minimum run time on emergency lighting. Although 90 minutes seems like a long time, there have been times where the power was out for extended periods of time such as 4 hours for the utility to replace a failed 3-phase transformer.

- Agent24 - While the NiCd may handle trickle charging better than NiMH, they do need to be deep-cycled on occasion or they develop memory issues.

Re: Swapping out a NiMh for a LiPo?
......throwing a monkey wrench into your plans. The battery pack isn't NiMh, it's a 3.6V 1000mAh Ni-Cd.
The battery type is on the battery pack pic you took and it's in the product description where you linked.

Re: Dimmable LED incandescent replacements
Dimmable LED lamps are an ever-changing technology. Few lamps are the same in 2 years from today.
I have found a series of dimmers that have reliably worked with these lamps. The Lutron CL-series dimmers appear to work with 90% of the line-voltage dimmable LED lamps. These dimmers are a hybrid which handle 600 watts incandescent/halogen and 150 watts LED or compact fluorescent (remember those things). There are also higher wattage units available but you won't find them at big blue or big orange - special order at an electrical...

Re: PB easynote mh36 wifi adaptor disconnects & touchpad faulty
It sounds like your wifi adapter is dying. I had the same thing happen in my Acer E5-571. It was a b/g/n/bluetooth card, Realtek iirc. This laptop is one of the last Acer's made with win7 during the switchover to WinHate. I uninstalled all old drivers, popped in an Intel ac7260 adapter with bluetooth and had zero issues since.
I use the Acer as my primary laptop and automotive diagnostics with an OBDLink MX bluetooth adapter. It always connects to this Intel card. I had 25% success with the original...

Re: New Keyboard/mouse suggestions
I wore out the microswitches under both buttons in my Logitech Anywhere MX....... It uses Omron D2LS-21 switches. D**n shipping is more than 2 switches at $1.65 each so I bought 6 plus other items to make the shipping less than the parts....

Re: OMFG, I have real internet!!
Back in February, I got another 'free' upgrade for Comcast. Over 300Mb but I average 120Mb over wifi due to distance from router. It's in the basement and the last test was done in 2nd floor master bedroom. Of course, my speeds are much better on the wired side of my network....

Re: M$ Security Essentials (MSE) Stopped updating 3 days ago....
I use AVG free on all my computers except for the computer for uploading a scanner feed to broadcastify. AVG doesn't play well with it. Just make sure you turn off all notifications and turn on silent mode and you won't get the upgrade nags.

Re: Crimping crimp-on RG58, RG174, etc. connectors without die?
I have a basic hex crimping tool I bought at ratshack before they went under. Here is a similar one on amazon. Many different ones for around $20.

Re: 370 VAC 80/7.5 Flow A/C Cap?
On a 2-terminal cap used on AC motors/compressors, they are not polarized. It doesn't matter which terminals are used. Be sure to put 2 red wires on the same terminal or

Re: Win7 disk utilization
Out of curiosity, I looked at my laptop's windows folder and it's at 8.6GB. Windoze10 on Acer Aspire E5 series, 6GB RAM, Samsung 850 EVO 256GB SSD, Core i5-4210U 1.7ghz. Only a 200mb page file?!

Re: How to read znr or mov?
D1-3 probably failed due to the battery being disconnected while the engine was running, causing the over-voltage condition.
The fuse blowing for TCM, combination meter (that's the instrument cluster) etc is probably from the shorted diodes and MOV.

Re: How to read znr or mov?
I'm not sure on how to ID the zener diode, but you may want to check D1, D2, D3. All 3 look like they're damaged (split, burn/splatter on the board).
What's the history on this cluster? I'd suspect damage with power on the comm/data lines from the ECU or another component shorted on this board.

Re: Garbage Find: Asus ET2203T - T9900 & Memory Upgrade
" Also Acronis True Image WD version does not detect Sandisk SSD from the bootable media of Acronis."
Acronis True Image WD will recognize a WD drive. I ran into that issue a few years ago. Any True Image (drive mfr) edition must have at least 1 drive by that manufacturer.

Re: Samsung LN46A550P3FXZA Squealing, clicking on and off
Budm, thanks for the insight on this model main board. A friend of mine has a LN46A540P2FXZA with the same issue of cycling, green banding and squealing. I replaced the C102 with a Nichicon PM 100@16volts and it went away. I am also going to replace C131 as a preventive measure.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Not exactly electronics-related but not a bad haul for a 50th birthday/Christmas/annual bonus from a VERY good customer. Craftsman (MTD-built) 24" 2-stage snow blower. I don't get a lot of snow in Delaware but mostly wet heavy snow. Did get to try it on the 13th with 5 inches ...
