Hello!
A friend of mine brought his DV6 with GPU problems.
The laptop has intel integrated graphics and an ATI gpu.
A month ago, he was unable to enable the ATI and could only work with the laptop with the integrated Intel graphics.
He told also that the laptop when turning on, if the fan would start full speed, we would'nt turn on.
To work on it he had allways to force the Intel graphics, most of the times removing the plug to force battery mode.
If the ATI was activated in Windows, the image would come blurry and unreadable.
Well, I removed the BGA and cleaned it. Reballed it and tested it.
When I booted into windows I allways get a BSOD related to atipackage.
Installed a fresh OS, laptop works fine until I try to install the ATI.
Mesured the SMD's on the chip and found 4 of them with 0.6 ohm (see picture).
Any thoughts?
BGA is dead?
Should I order a new one?
Another issue is that the BGA has the code unreadable, and so I dont know wich BGA order to replace this one in case of need.
Waiting for your follow ups!
Thanks!
